Come on take me away
Let's go dance in the rain
Say we'll always be friends
Say you love me again...
In the build up to Chris Flynn's debut album next month, a third video and track has been released that captures more working class vignettes from the soul of the city.
Looking Like Rain is the final piece of a triptych of videos produced and directed by the same team as Pandora (see here), starring Maxine Peake, and Dumped (see here) which illustrate Flynn's sweeping sounds and lyrics.
On this latest full on epic track, the Salford troubadour is accompanied by a line up that includes Pete Marshall (Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott), Christian Madden (The Earlies and Liam Gallagher) and Dickon Kymewright (The Karpets), as he tells a story of lost love, lament and new adventures.
The ace cinematic video contrasts the dour streets and dank atmosphere with luminous escapism and other possibilities, both literal and metaphorical, as the film plays backwards in parts, while the cast party in fancy dress to underline the surreally real sentiments. But it's the song itself that floats you away. In Salford it always looks like rain...so, let Chris take you elsewhere; on your own doorstep...
The full album will be out in February...expect total quality.
