In a bid for survival the Salford Star has opened a pop-up shop and exhibition in Salford Shopping Centre which closes this Sunday 9th December with an auction of weird and wonderful items conducted by actor and long time Salford Star contributor, Nigel Pivaro...

Reproduction Prints of A View From The Crescent in 1820
Taken from a small engraving dating from 1820, the print shows people having a day out by the River Irwell, complete with grazing sheep and St Philip's Church and The Crescent pub in the background. Community activist Phil Hamer has lovingly restored and reproduced it as a limited edition set of prints and has donated two, including one hand coloured, to the Star auction.
Children's Items from the Savannah Rose Collection
Incredible one off original design baby blankets, pillows, hair bands, cushions and more donated by Chrissy Oxton who started the Savannah Rose Collection and normally sells them at makers markets and via personal calls*. She also volunteers for Spotlight Outreach which helps the homeless with meals, clothes and other items... "Everybody needs a helping hand sometimes" says Chrissy.

Sharon has been helping in the Salford Star shop all week and has made beautiful Salford Star bangles which have been selling like hot cakes. For the auction Sharon has donated two artworks and a rare framed Enya presentation CD.

Joe Coffey's work has already sold in the big Charles Taylor auction this week but there's another chance to buy unframed signed prints in his unique Salford style at this second auction.
