Not many Salford bands, just starting out, can boast of playing The Cavern in Liverpool but The Revival, whose youngest member, Lola Carrington, is just twelve years old, have already been there and done that. And won the MAPAS Battle of the Bands in Salford this month, with a place in the finals at the Band on the Wall next February..
As well as Lola on bass and vocals, the other members are all age 15 - Amber Carrington (lead singer), David Vesty (keys and rhythm guitar) and Leon Bennet (lead guitar). All are pupils at Buile Hill Visual Arts College, and their fill in drummer, Adam Wilson, aka Jeff, is a 22 year old music teacher at the school.
While doing a lot of covers, ranging from The Kings of Leon's Use Somebody, to Alice Merton's No Roots, The Revival are also beginning to come into their own with original songs like The Storm*, a catchy, quirky number with some great lines... 'Why are you bothering me/Be yourself stop trying to act like me'...
The Revival don't have a manger yet but former DJ Colin Carrington, who is the father of Lola and Amber, knows they are going places... "They are young talented musicians from Salford, gaining experience and recognition with every performance" he says "Hopefully they will follow in the footsteps of the many successful bands to come out of Salford and Manchester."
