The fascist EDL originally planned a national march this weekend to 'shut down' Didsbury mosque. However, that's been abandoned and, instead, the EDL states that it intends holding a rally in central Manchester.
Unite Against Fascism, Stand Up To Racism and a host of politicians and trade unionists have called a counter demonstration, meeting at 12:30pm in Piccadilly Gardens tomorrow, Saturday 20th October.
"Manchester is a multicultural and welcoming city and we should respect, care for and value each other" says Manchester councillor Mary Monaghan "By working together we create happy and peaceful communities. We have no room for hatred and racism of any kind."
Kate Green MP adds: "The EDL are never welcome in our city. We're proud of our friendly, diverse, communities. We stand together against division and hate."
