Plans to revitalise the derelict Buile Hill Park Mansion have taken a long torturous road that, at one point, involved a bonkers plan by the Salford City Mayor to build houses in the park (see previous Salford Star article ? click here).
After a public outcry, and hours before a public meeting of the Buile Hill Mansion Support Group, the Mayor suddenly did a u-turn and announced that no houses would be built in the park (see previous Salford Star article ? click here)
Since then, the Buile Hill Mansion Support Group has met with the developer Capital and Centric, which had planned to build houses to cross-subsidise the Mansion's refurbishment, and the Salford Red Devils Foundation, which originally co-ordinated a community bid for the Mansion's re-use.
An update will be provided at a public meeting this Tuesday 14th August, while both the developer and the Foundation have agreed to attend a further public meeting in September to see how plans can move forward.
