Just over two hundred years since Karl Marx was born, what would happen if he was reincarnated and plonked in Soho, New York?
Marx in Soho has been seen extensively in America but its premiere tour in the UK just couldn't miss Salford and Manchester where Marx and best mate Engels came up with many of their ideas.
"I'm delighted Marx In Soho is coming to the UK as it is a place where both Marx and his philosophic collaborator Engels spent most of their lives" says Bob Weick who plays Marx in the acclaimed one-man show.
"They walked these streets, studied in the libraries, drank in the pubs, and learned of the struggles of the working poor and dedicated their lives to doing something about it" he adds "It will be exciting that we will be addressing these issues on the tour, especially in Manchester and London, around places they even frequented themselves."
It will certainly be spooky performing in Chetham's Library where Marx and Engels researched their work.
During the play, Marx confronts issues such as American education, their super rich ruling class, corporate mergers, prisons, and the media. It should all be spot on, as writer Howard Zinn was a renowned historian and activist before he died in 2010, age 87.
His play is billed as 'a passionate, funny and moving defence of Karl Marx's life and political ideas...' It could well be revolting. Don't miss...
