ECCLES SEES SALFORD CANNABIS SHOP

A Salford shop selling cannabis oil has opened on Liverpool Road in Eccles. TGI Vapours – The CBD Store sells vapes, drops, pastes, sprays and capsules made from cannabidiol compound (CBD) which is legal and claims to help with everything from anxiety, to obesity to cancer. The CBD on sale is legal and non-hallucinogenic...

Towards the end of Liverpool Road, going out of Eccles and next to the ASDA, there's a smart little shop called TGI Vapours – The CBD Store, that has a bewildering array of brightly packaged vaping products...

...However, this shop also stocks a full range of cannabis oil, or cannabidiol compound (CBD), for those who vape and don't vape. As well as CBD vape products, there's capsules, drops, paste and sprays for what is fast becoming the big cure-all buzz in medicinal and non-medicinal circles.

"It seems to be a new product that people are getting into" says Karen Mansley, who owns this shop and another in Heywood "We looked at it in terms of just vaping, then we got different lines, which to me is excellent because not everybody wants to vape."

The CBD drops, pastes and sprays are taken orally, while the vapes are used with a new 'tank'. There's also a starter kit which looks like a vape machine but doesn't send up clouds of smoke, just a breeze of pure CBD. It's all legal, with the hallucinogenic properties removed and the THC (the stuff that makes you high) content in line with the Government regulated 0.2% limit.

The claim is that CBD – 'the primary cannabinoid of fibre or industrial hemp/cannabis and the second most prevalent cannabinoid in drug types of the cannabis plant' – helps with a massive range of medical issues, from anxiety, to epilepsy, diabetes, skin diseases, allergies and even cancer.

"None of us are medically trained but we've done the research and due diligence so people can read up on that, form their own opinions and look at which way they want to take CBD" explains Barry Hampton from the CBD Wholesale Store and Warehouse which supplies the drug.

He adds that his own daughter was taking Co-codamol four times a day for headaches but has been taking the drops for around five weeks and is fine... "A lot of sports people are using them too, mixing them in their protein shakes" he adds "Within a year or two it's going to be huge.

"The Government don't want pharmaceutical companies to not be producing drugs, as it would lose income, and is sceptical, but I think public opinion will bring it to the forefront" he insists.

"This is pure CBD" he adds "We manufacture it ourselves as we've got part of a cannabis field in Europe, so we follow the whole process from beginning to end. There are a lot of fakes out there, people saying it's CBD but it's actually infused  hemp oil, and there's people claiming 1,000mgs in their bottle but there's only 30mgs..."

The only downside, he adds, is that it doesn't taste brilliant, although the CBD vape e-liquids come in all sorts of flavours, like Spearmint, Strawberry and Vanilla Fudge.

On the shop counter there's even a starter CBDplus kit infuser to sample... "It's not a vape, it just gives a short burst straight into your bloodstream" says Karen "People can try it and the affect is instant; you can feel it within seconds."

As both Barry and Karen insist, it's not about getting high, indeed, you can't get high on it... "It's about working with clients and what's best for them..."

In terms of dosages, that's left to customers to see what works for them, although they are recommended to begin on lower amounts. There's also booklets in the shop that give details and information on all the research carried out on CBD and its therapeutic properties.

In terms of price for the CBD products, you're looking at £19.99 for a 10ml bottle of e-liquid, and the range of capsules, drops, sprays and pastes goes from £29.99 for a balm, right up to over £100 for extra strength products...

However, people have been raving about cannabis oil and its 'miracles' for a long time – at least it's now in Salford and anyone can try it for themselves.

TGI Vapours – The CBD Store is now open at 524 Liverpool Road, Eccles M30 7JA, and at 38B Market Street, Heywood, OL10 4LY.

The Salford Star is currently testing out the CBDplus starter kit with someone who suffers from arthritis – we'll let you know how they get on in a couple of weeks.

* This article has been amended as we now understand that this is not the first shop to sell such products in the city.

Wow, it is amazing but The Government don't want pharmaceutical companies to not be producing drugs, as it would lose income, but I think public opinion can be helpful about this issue.

@ Big Brother. I don't think that's the case as I change nothing in my comments, I just keep re-entering the captcha, eventually is works. If the Star wanted to not post my comment then they'd have just not done it. While I have serious issues with Islam as well as other established religions, I don't have an issue with their adherents unless they're radical. However, in this country it's reached a point where someone who satirises or legitimately questions aspects of Islam or Judaism etc are labelled 'bigots' and 'racists' to effectively shut down debate instead of giving an in-depth rebuttal. This isn't healthy for Democracy. Religion should not be above reproach. Either everything is open to questioning and satire or nothing is. I respect people's right to have a religion, but I don't have to respect their religion or beliefs. So yes, free speech is limited which I disagree with, though the media still mentions Muslims all the time and I hear and see people use the words 'Paki' and 'Muslim' too in a negative context. This is one of the reasons why people like me are thrown in with the likes of the BNP and EDL etc, because actual bigots try to hide behind freedom of speech and legitimate questioning to foster their hate. While I believe they have the right to hold those hateful opinions, I just wish they would stop pretending they're ideologically opposed to Islam. If this were the case they'd be opposed to Christianity as it's just as full as advocations for 'wrong' as the other three Abrahamic religions. The only difference is Judaism and Christianity have had hundreds of years of Western liberalism reform it ideologically. This will happen to Islam too eventually, then the EDL and the like will have to go back to hating them because they're a different colour.

@ Cody, error massage, it’s censorship, it’s either the star it self doing it or algorithms. It stops certain words or phrases word that the lefties and government don’t like you saying, not swear words, try typing p.k.s.... m.sl..s to the site, you know the word I’m saying, it stops you from doing it, censorship, just like there is a D. Notice on main stream media about a certain group who commit terrorism and this is happening all over Europe. We all need to wake up, freedom of speech is slowly being closed down and the mainstream media are apart of this censorship.

The more I look at life, the more cynical I get. We always seem to be getting sold the latest wonder food, drink or supplement ... and these things always cost a bomb. Does anybody remember the blag about the superfood that is the blueberry? Go in any supermarket, and they're about three times more expensive than any other fruit - and why? Because they're a superfood that's why. Or what about the omega fish oils load of bullshit, or the glucosamine sulphate tablets for arthritis ... or the copper bracelets. I'm reminded of the old Cher song, Tramps and Thieves. Trust me People, everything is a con. If business men could market bananas as a superfood, all that would happen is that the price of a bunch would go up to a fiver. Just one last thing guys, remember, Labour. Now ... and always...

I have Post Polio syndrome, which means fatigue , weakness n pain. I tried cbd oil , tiny dose. Instant relief from brain fog - but total insomnia. Then digestive problems, which got worse and worse .So I stopped taking the oil, and went back to what passes for normal. Be warned - there can be side effects. It's not a 'magic bullet' doesn't work for everyone.

Cannabis oil is quite 'niche' at the moment, when more companies start making it, then it should bring down the price. I've heard nothing but positive things about it. Unsurprisingly the NHS hasn't done enough 'research' on the subject from what I gleaned from a medical professional I saw recently. I think it's highly likely the NHS is being discouraged from researching it by certain elements of the pharmaceutical industry, which is a damn shame if it can help a lot of people. Looking forward to reading about the results of the test. Though I would recommend testing it on more than one person to get an idea of how effective it is. On an unrelated note, a lot of the time I comment here I keeping getting "ERROR - please check your comment", despite the fact the captcha is typed correctly when I press send. I'm going to try sending again.

SALFORD STAR – 15 YEARS OF ATTITUDE AND LOVE XXX

The Salford Star closes tonight after 15 years of giving the community a voice, holding power to account and bigging up all the great things that have happened in the city.

Thousands of people in Salford have been involved in one way or another with the Star and we'd like to thank them all. Salford is a very special city and, hopefully, we've given it a very special community publication.

THREATS, LIES, FEAR AND LOATHING IN SALFORD...

Today, the Salford Star shuts down but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. Here the Salford Star editor, Stephen Kingston, looks at how democracy perished badly under the Salford mayoral system.

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE – GUY GRIFFITHS ON THE HUMAN COST OF PATHFINDER DEMOLITIONS

Star date: 16th May 2021

THE HUMAN COST OF REGENERATION

The Griffiths brothers of Higher Broughton are kind of infamous as the only people to be forcefully evicted from their house as part of the Pathfinder 'housing market renewal' project during the first decade of the 21st Century.

Here, Guy Griffiths, now living in 'sunny' north Wales and one of the main inspirations for the Salford Star's creation, writes the second part his own personal view of the Government project that devastated communities throughout Central Salford.
