A neglected area of Claremont has been transformed into a Community Garden, after local residents, banded together under the title Height Heroes, cleared brambles and weeds, and adopted and created a green space for the community to enjoy.
Tomorrow, Saturday 19th May, between 11am and 3pm, the Claremont Place Community Garden officially opens with its first event, a Royal Wedding Party; like a street party only it's taking place in the new mini-park complete with traditional games and party food.
"There's so many great things happening on the Height at the moment and this seemed like the perfect way to get to know more of our neighbours" says Cat Swanson of Height Heroes "Holding it at the new Claremont Place Community Garden just seemed to make perfect sense as we can celebrate the wedding and the new garden at the same time..."
The party has been masterminded by Laura Blakeley who only moved to the Height a few months ago and wanted to get to know her neighbours.
"Community spirit is alive and well on the Height" she says "I'd love to see everybody joining in, not just with this street party, but with local clean-ups and events at the nearby parks. Please come forward with any suggestions for future gatherings..."
