Originally postponed because of really bad weather, the Europia charity is finally holding its International Women's Day event this Wednesday 2nd May at Slater and Gordon Lawyers in Manchester.
Europia, based in St Wilfred's Enterprise Centre in Hulme, was set up in 2011 to help people from European countries living in Greater Manchester to develop and integrate into communities. It is the only registered Manchester-based charity dedicated to this cause.
The event will feature talks by speakers from the community, local council and business sector, a guided business networking session by Alan Lewis, author of Dearest Axeman…77 Top Networking Tips To Turbocharge Your Business, and a selection of O!PLA animation screening and business stalls by European expats businesses.
"In Europia's 5th Annual International Women's Day event we will celebrate the achievements of the European females living and thriving in the Greater Manchester area" says Kush Chottera, Europia's Executive Director
"Following the results of last year's referendum, the need to highlight the contributions European expats make to our city is more vital than ever" she adds "IWD provides an excellent opportunity to recognise the individuals and organisations that challenge stereotypes, inspire and serve as an example of equality and integration."
Speakers for the evening include Levenshulme Councillor Dzidra Noor, Góbéfest's Director Ottilia Ördög and ANTZ founder Jen Gillies Pemberton. ANTZ links businesses to social value and has one of its bases in Clifton, where the Salford Star, Proud and Loud, JVA and other social businesses have free offices.
