Hooky has now been on the road for around eight years, performing Joy Division and New Order albums in full to raving audiences around the world. In between, the Salford star has managed to squeeze in DJing tours, a handful of brilliant best selling autobiographies and loads of charity runs.
Now Peter Hook and his band, The Light, are preparing to tour live versions of New Order albums, Technique and Republic, with the show hitting the Albert Hall in Manchester on Saturday 29th September.
Technique was the first New Order album to hit Number 1, recorded in Ibiza in 1988 and released in 1989, as Fine Time stormed dancefloors. Republic was meant to save Factory Records from going bankrupt but, before the band could get it out, Factory fell and it was released instead on London Records in 1993...
"It's not hard to deduce that the demise of Factory, coupled with the ongoing difficulties surrounding the band's involvement in Manchester's Hacienda as well as internal friction within New Order and due to the band members' solo projects, all had an impact on the recording sessions and mood that lies behind Republic, something that Stephen Hague did his utmost to assuage in producing the LP" states the breathless pre-tour blurb.
Hooky's previous global live tours to sold-out massive venues have been met with huge critical acclaim and this latest spectacular looks set to follow. Tickets for the Manchester gig are on sale now...
