As the crisis is the NHS seems to get worse every year with longer A&E waiting times, overstretched staff and bed shortages, there's going to be a huge NHS In Crisis – Fix It Now! demo in London on Saturday February 3rd to protest against the Tory Government's blasι attitude.

"When headlines report there is a 'third world' crisis in the sixth richest country in the world, let's be clear and call this what it is: an entirely manufactured political crisis by the Tories" states the Manchester People's Assembly, which is organising a coach to go down to the London demo.

"It is time this Government stops blaming patients, nurses, doctors, immigrants, flu and the elderly for their shortcomings" it adds "It's time they start listening to the country which is sick of empty promises from the mouths of cowardly politicians.

"The Tories must heed the call of the public, staff and patients alike who demand that #ourNHS is not only funded properly but brought back into public hands away from the waste and demands of shareholders and bankers' bonuses" it urges "...On the 70th year of the NHS we created - we demand that #ourNHS is given back! We must end the NHS crisis now."

The People's Assembly coach to London to join the massive protest goes from Chorlton Street Coach Station at 7am Saturday 3rd February (be there for 6:45am), and tickets are £15 unwaged, £25 waged or free for the really skint (still have to buy a £5 ticket and reclaim money on the day).

COUNCIL UPS PRICE OF BUILE HILL MANSION PROJECT TO OVER £20MILLION AS PLANS MET WITH SCORN FROM COMMUNITY

Last night, a packed stormy meeting of the Claremont and Weaste Community Committee left Salford City Council in no doubt that any plans to build houses in Buile Hill Park as part of a deal to restore the Grade 2 listed Mansion will be met with fierce opposition.

Salford Council's Assistant Director of the Environment revealed to the meeting that Salford Red Devils Foundation, one of the driving partners of the project, hadn't even signed the controversial Memorandum of Understanding yet – and that the £1.6million cost of restoring the Mansion would have to be met with £1million a year to sustain it, giving a figure of over £20million.

FORGET ABOUT JOBS, HOMELESSNESS AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING – ROLLERBLADERS IS WHERE CITIES' REGENERATION IS AIMED!

'Jobs priority "just doesn't echo in the room any more"...'

Never mind jobs, homelessness and affordable housing, all Manchester and Salford regeneration is, apparently, aimed at attracting rollerbladers, Eddie Smith, Strategic Director at Manchester City Council, told a Built Environment Network conference last week; and that the jobs priority "just doesn't echo in the room any more". At the same conference, the Development Manager for Salford City Council echoed the similar sentiments.
