SEARCHING FOR A BETTER WORLD WITH CAPTAIN SKA

'The unjust order's crumbling...It's time to take control...'

An absolutely brilliant track has been released by Captain Ska and The People's Assembly aiming to get into the Christmas chart with all proceeds going to foodbanks and the anti-Tory campaign. It's a must-hear soulful, boppy tune with a singalong chorus... 'Searching for a better world for my sons and my daughters...'

'Transform my anger into hope
Get back our dignity...'

When Captain Ska released #LiarLiar earlier this year it totally stormed the anti-Tory country with millions of YouTube views and downloads. For Christmas, Captain Ska have again teamed up with The People's Assembly Against Austerity with another top track, Sons and Daughters...

With stunning vocals by Adeola Shyllon, a soulful, brassy backing and hope steaming out of its lyrics, the tune is the perfect festive, reggae style beat; the antidote to Christmas schlock and cash-in singles, with all proceeds going to foodbanks and The People's Assembly campaign against the Tories.

The track comes with the hashtag #ToriesOutForChristmas, has Jeremy Corbyn in the mix and it's got a catchy, rousing singalong chorus...

'Searching for a better world for my sons and my daughters
We've been struggling for so long
Finding now a new hope
Yes my sisters and my brothers
We'll win because we're strong...'

The lyrics by Jake Painter and Christy Kulz don't mess about, telling it how it is and how it could be, while the video posts the most poignant statements... 'Time For Change'... 'A Better World Is Possible'...

'How can it be
They told us that the streets were paved with gold
But when I look down
Concrete beneath my feet people sleeping in the cold
How could we let this be in the 21st Century?'

For your sons and your daughters, for your sisters and your brothers...give this track a listen, download it and get inspired. It's a present of the soundtrack of our lives...

'They've been poisoning our minds
But they're not getting mine...no, no...The unjust order's crumbling
It's time to take control...'

“If I should ever get to be Mayor” My heartfelt thanks to Mr. Felse for giving me the best laugh of the year. Keep it up, MJF, we all need cheering up during these austere days.

Salford needs Felsey. A pity he did not beat Stewart cos this City wood have been better off all round. If Buckers makes a Felsey Song in 2018 it could be a right hum dinger.

My Salford tree of modernisation as Mayor will also give press openness where all questions are answered, £50millon a year new income from developers' premiums and fueling from profit making businesses such as Peel, fully funded food banks and 800 new low rent social housing smart homes a year. Safety renewal of all suspect high rise flats and a citizens' right to the best social care possible with an automatic compensation pay where a citizen finds the services lets them down. I look forward to making this Salford dream come true as soon as.

The message is loud and clear. I believe on the local front we need to distance Salford from Greater Manchester. If I should ever get to be Mayor I would declare independence for Salford based on our City Royal Charter. This will allow selling off the £400million assets to pump quality services into all Salford local Communities. The writing off of Salford Student debts and to do a complete reverse of a coming Council Tax hype, giving back that suggested £100 to each household. I see an asset rich Council. We must seek new ways to put our local people's lives first.

SALFORD STAR – 15 YEARS OF ATTITUDE AND LOVE XXX

The Salford Star closes tonight after 15 years of giving the community a voice, holding power to account and bigging up all the great things that have happened in the city.

Thousands of people in Salford have been involved in one way or another with the Star and we'd like to thank them all. Salford is a very special city and, hopefully, we've given it a very special community publication.

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE: HOW SALFORD COUNCIL TRIED TO BLOCK AND DISCREDIT THE STAR

Star date: 17th May 2021

THREATS, LIES, FEAR AND LOATHING IN SALFORD...

Today, the Salford Star shuts down but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. Here the Salford Star editor, Stephen Kingston, looks at how democracy perished badly under the Salford mayoral system.

A WHIFF OF FREEDOM AS RESTRICTIONS ARE EASED

Salford has 7 new coronavirus cases, down from the previous day's 14, while the seven day rate per 100,000 population now stands at 30.1, down from 30.9. There have been no new virus-related deaths announced by Salford Royal Hospital.

Today sees restrictions eased and the first whiff of freedom in over a year. It's also the final coronavirus bulletin from the Salford Star which is closing. Here we look back over 14 months of the pandemic and the absolute communication failings of Salford City Council and its City Mayor.

THEY WILL TRY TO DISCREDIT YOU...TO BLOCK YOU, TO SHUT YOU DOWN

We are almost at the final closure of the Salford Star but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. In South America they just blow up the offices of journalists that don't play the game. Here they just financially assassinate you...

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE – GUY GRIFFITHS ON THE HUMAN COST OF PATHFINDER DEMOLITIONS

Star date: 16th May 2021

THE HUMAN COST OF REGENERATION

The Griffiths brothers of Higher Broughton are kind of infamous as the only people to be forcefully evicted from their house as part of the Pathfinder 'housing market renewal' project during the first decade of the 21st Century.

Here, Guy Griffiths, now living in 'sunny' north Wales and one of the main inspirations for the Salford Star's creation, writes the second part his own personal view of the Government project that devastated communities throughout Central Salford.
