Eccles will come alive with the spirit of Christmas this week, as a group of neighbours and amateur singers, informally known as the Gilda Glee Club, will be performing Christmas carols around the Snowdon Road area (M30 9AS) starting at 7:30pm on Thursday 21st December.
The Christmas combo have been singing carols during the festive season since 2010 and this year they will be collecting money for local homelessness charity, Coffee4Craig.
"We all enjoy our rehearsals so much, it really brings the community together and it's a great excuse to take time out of our busy lives to catch up with neighbours and have a bit of a sing" says Lynn Cullimore, musical director of the group "Everyone is welcome to come along and join in on the big day. Bring your small change and a loud voice!"
Lynn is also putting on a Gilda Bop Charity Disco at the Gilda Brook Social Club from 8pm on Friday 22nd December, for which all profits will also go to Coffee4Craig. It's a pay-what-you-feel disco 'for grownups who like dancing but don't want to go into town', and the playlist will include soul, disco, pop, indie and some Hacienda classics.
