COUNCILLOR JOHN WARMISHAM !!!
Yes, John has had a trying year… trying desperately to hold onto his crown as Lead Member for Children's Services…
He's overseen the fiasco at St George's High School… and the constant criticism of the Council's dealings with protecting the most vulnerable children in the city.
In November 2007 an OFSTED report found that the "Council's services for supporting children and young people to stay safe are inadequate". Shortly after this, Councillor Warmisham explained to the Salford Star "We appreciate that there are further improvements to be made and we're working closely with the Department for Children, Schools and Families to bring these about quickly and effectively."
Almost two years later, in September this year, OFSTED couldn't even confirm that from children's records they had seen "action had been taken to ensure that they were not at risk of harm".
Then there's the fantastic schools programme which John heads up – schools built too small…schools built too big…And St George's, of course, which prompted John to lose it in the Council Chamber in September when he slagged off some parents of pupils at the threatened St George's School in Little Hulton, saying that they "disgusted me".
We've lost count of the amount of times we've called for John Warmisham to resign. But he won't. So for all his mule-style stubbornness this MARY is richly deserved…
