"It was great fun" says Alison "Fascinating to hear real life memories from the past, which to me isn't that far distant..."
This Tuesday, 29th November, there's a free Sporting Memories event at Salford Lads Club, which is aimed at elderly people who may be affected by dementia, depression or loneliness.
The idea is just to chat about watching or playing sport, to meet new people and maybe take part in some sporty games.
"Social isolation is a challenge" says Jason White of the Sporting Memories Network "Something like this is fantastic because it gets people out of the house and gets them talking about something that they're really happy to talk about and making friends..."
At the event, some light physical activities will be provided by young volunteers from the Street League, while the Lads Club itself will be making its archives available...
"The club has records and photographs stretching back 113 years, so it's the perfect venue to host this event" explains Leslie Holmes, Project Manager at Salford Lads Club "Although the club is for young people, this event will give older people in the community the chance to reconnect with others and share sporting memories from their past."
