A big Environment gathering is set to take place in Salford as part of celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of Salford Trades Union Council, or Salford TUC*. At Islington Mill, on Tuesday November 8th, there are exhibitions all day, followed at 7pm by a Meeting on the Environment, which organisers describe as a `different experience of discussion and debate'...
In an informal pub atmosphere, the audience will have the chance to directly discuss points raised by speakers, who will have only ten minutes maximum to talk on a range of subjects, from fracking to flooding, direct action, eco tourism and community renewables.
Speakers have been invited from a wide spectrum of eco groups including Friends of the Earth, Frack Free Greater Manchester, Salford flood victims and GreenPeace.
This Environment Day is a preamble to a huge march and rally happening on Saturday 12th November, beginning at Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester, at 11am.
The United Against Fracking protest is backed by GreaterManchester Association of Trade Union Councils, Frack Free Lancashire, Frack Free Greater Manchester and Frack Free Yorkshire... "Help show the strength of national opposition to the roll out of fracking in the UK by the Government" state the organisers.
