A unique celebration of life with a South American twist...
Experienced promoters of club nights, theatre and music events, One Tree Producing, bring a little piece of Mexican culture to Salford to celebrate the Halloween period, fusing together many aspects to deliver an original and entertaining evening.
Nick Clarke has been involved with a variety of clubs nights, gigs and theatre events, and this event promises to create a truly great celebration. The Mexican feel will be present in the vibrant form of funk act Drymbago, who fuse many styles in their music.
Essentially an uplifting funk combo, they incorporate Afro and Latin influences to create 'music for the soul and feet'. Along with live music there will be also DJs Guy Morley and Jimla, plus great food. The venue will be staged and set up to reference aspects of South American culture, and a shrine will be a major feature.
Fancy dress in a Day of the Dead theme is encouraged. Nick, however, is keen to inform that Day of the Dead is not a straight replica of Mexico's Dia de los Muertos religious festival...
"'There are elements of it but this is more about a celebration of life" he states, adding that attendees can bring along a picture of a loved one who has passed away and place it on the shrine... "Of course, we remember people we have lost, but we should celebrate them, too". True to his word, Nick will be bringing a picture of his father.
You can also contact One Tree Producing prior to the event and share your own thoughts and memories of a loved one by submitting a couple of sentences or a short memory to celebrate someone's life. These will be projected onto the walls to create an immersive experience.
Nick will be heavily involved and will be performing a poem himself...

Dress up and head down to Islington Mill for an unforgettable fiesta of music, dance and theatricals. Fresh food made by Stomping Grounds will be available from 7pm. Day of the Dead is a great celebration of life open to all regardless of religion and ethnicity, and sets out to be a night of celebration in honour of those we love and miss.
