For the past week, residents in Mosley Common Village have been displaying home-made scarecrows, and tomorrow, Saturday 30th July, sees the day of reckoning, as the public get to choose the best ones.
For just £1 anyone can pick up a judging score sheet from Lindale Hall in the village, and then either walk or drive the scarecrow trail picking the best examples of the art.
"We thought that we were taking a bit of a gamble since there has not been anything like this in the area before and had our fingers crossed hoping that there would be some entries" says Mosley Common in Bloom chair Maxine Abberley "We were overwhelmed by the number of entries, and the enthusiasm of the community for this event which we will now be adding to our list of annual events.
"The quality of the entries is amazing, especially when you consider that this is the first time many of the competitors have tried their hand at anything like this" she adds "I think that every one should be a winner, but it will be up to the public to carry out the difficult task of judging on Saturday, and we hope everyone will have lots of fun on the day."
Lindale Hall will be open from 10am-4pm where there will also be activities for children and adults throughout the day, and refreshments will also be available.

| They did this in Salford and put Labour rosettes on them. They ended up electing Merry, Warmisham and Connor. |
