MARWAN KOUKASH STAYING WITH SALFORD RED DEVILS AS HULL GET VICTORY

Hull got the victory at Salford last night but fans were still happy after Marwan Koukash confirmed in a meeting prior to the game that he is staying for a further two years.

Marwan Koukash, before this game against Hull, held a question and answer session and confirmed to the fans that he will be staying with the Red Devils for another two years.
He also confirmed that Luke Burgess, the oldest of the four Burgess brothers who played together for South Sydney, is on his way back to Super League after signing for Salford. The Red Devils beat Friday's 5pm transfer deadline by minutes to bring in the former Leeds prop from Manly, along with his Sea Eagles team-mate Feleti Mateo. Both players have been signed initially for the Super 8s, which start on the first weekend of August, and are expected to arrive early next week.
Meanwhile, on the field, Hull secured the win and top place at the end of the regular season with late tries from Sneyd and Mahe Fonua, as they ran out 28-20 winners last night.
Salford brought in Niall Evalds to replace injured winger Justin Carney, with Adam Walne recalled on the bench. Hull were without full back Jamie Shaul, with Curtis Naughton taking over and Pritchard returning after a two-match absence with an ankle injury. Jordan Abdull continued at stand-off, with Carlos Tuimavave still missing as Hull aimed for their 12th win in the last 14 games.
Salford, who went down 42-20 at Hull on the opening day of the season, almost grabbed an early lead after a mistake by Abdull but Josh Griffin was knocked into touch. But Hull, spurred on by their vocal travelling army of fans, responded with Abdull and Naughton combining for Michaels to go over in the corner. Sneyd booted the conversion.
Salford went close to scoring through Caton-Brown from a Lui kick but the bounce eluded the Red Devils winger. Salford were not to be denied after 14 minutes when Ellis lost the ball in a tackle and Dobson hacked on to touch down with O'Brien landing the goal.
A long-range run from Michaels caught the Red Devils napping, before substitute Pritchard scored with his first touch of the ball after a scooting break by Houghton, with Sneyd adding the conversion to make it 12-6.
It was a rousing encounter with play swinging from end to end and Hull certainly not looking as though they had an eye on next week's Challenge Cup semi-final against Wigan.
Michaels almost squeezed over in the corner to extend Hull's lead but Salford held the winger up over the line, to trail by six points at the break.
Abdull was also held up early in the second half, with both sides knowing the next score would be crucial in this close-fought encounter. Salford delighted their fans with smart handling from Dobson, Lui and O'Brien sending Caton-Brown over in the corner to cut the gap to 12-10 but O'Brien was off target with the difficult conversion attempt.
Hauraki cheekily stole the ball from Abdull to thwart another dangerous Hull attack but there was no stopping Green on the hour when he blasted through Kopczak's attempted tackle to make it 18-10.
Salford refused to concede defeat and it was no surprise when Evalds shot over after 67 minutes with O'Brien's conversion reducing the deficit to two points. Then Lui followed his own delicate chip to score in the corner and fire Salford ahead for the first time to make it 20-18.
But Sneyd broke through Dobson's tackle to put his side back ahead, with his conversion making it 24-20, before Fonua finished the job.
After the game I spoke with Langworthy lad Jason Camp, who said: "Tonight's game was great, action packed had it all…the only thing that worries me is the RFL still haven't dealt with the so called crowd trouble at Huddersfield. With them we could win all our games and they'd still take the points of us. Nothing would surprise me when it comes to Salford…"
We now move onto the Eights, and the late signings should be a great for all at the club. For once the club and its loyal fans are smiling…
