`Come...for a slow walk down the lane, without being arrested...'

Barton Moss, the scene of anti-fracking protests a few years ago, is also a green oasis bearing wild medicinal plants. On 29th May, the Wild Sistas will be slow walking down Barton Moss Road again, showing people how to identify plants that can be used for remedies, while sharing memories of the campaign. And next Sunday, 22nd, there's also a Local Herbal Medicine and Weed Walk around Eccles.

Little weeds and plants that flower around Salford hold the secret of a D.I.Y. medicine cupboard, and over the next fortnight experts will be showing how to identify and use the species for ultimate wellbeing.

First up is the Local Herbal Medicine and Weed Walk next Sunday, 22nd May at 1:30pm, with a saunter through Eccles fields to learn all about the medicinal weeds and remedies hiding in the hedgerows.

"Come and learn all about the medicinal properties of the 'weeds' on your doorstep, what they are used for and how you can use them in your lives for yours and your family's health" state the organisers "We will go ahead, rain or shine, so please wear appropriate clothing, and a camera and notepad will be useful as there are a lot of amazing healing plants out there right now and there will be a lot of information to take in."

Animals and children are welcome, and there are limited places so email nettlesandhealth@gmail.com to book a place. It's £7 per person and the assembly point is the grass behind the bus stop on Monton Rd, between Hawthorne Ave and the old Wendover Hotel. Meanwhile, the following Sunday, May 29th, sees the Frack Free Wild Medicine Walk at Barton Moss at noon...

"Come and join the Wild Sistas for a slow walk down the lane, without being arrested" state the organisers "It's spring and the Moss will be full of wild medicinal plants and memories. All remains of the community protection camp are almost erased, but what happened here two years ago will never be forgotten.

"Learn how to identify our local medicinal plants and what they are used for" they add "All money raised will be used to help pay the court costs and fines that our warriors incurred for trying to protect our water and our communities."

The cost is between £5-£10 `but be generous if you can'. Meet in the lay by at 12noon, at the start of Barton Moss Road M30 7RL.
