MAY DAY FESTIVAL WITH LOADS OF BANDS AND FAMILY FUN

G-Festival, the massive music and family fun day set up to help raise funds for Georgia's Children of the World charity, hits its fifth year this Sunday, May 1st, with Mike Sweeney and sets from The Smiths Ltd, Kar-Pets and 16year old Jennifer Rice, who will be performing Carry Me Home, a song written especially for the charity.

This Sunday, May 1st, Worsley's G-Festival begins at noon at Ellesmere Sports Club, hoping to raise funds for Georgia's Children of the World charity, with a full family fun day, fairground rides and loads of live music.

Last year more than 3,000 people attended G-Festival, with a special guest appearance from Happy Mondays' Shaun Ryder. This year, Mike Sweeney is supporting the event with live sets from The Smiths Ltd, Inspiral Carpets tribute band, Kar-Pets (complete with former lead singer Tom Hingley), The Brinks, Tabatha Jade, Jess Kemp and loads more (see here).

Also performing will be 16year old Jennifer Rice, from Worsley, who has recorded the track Carry Me Home, written by Steve Murray, frontman of 70s punk band Fast Cars, who set up the charity following the tragic loss of his 19 year old daughter, Georgia, after a heart operation in November 2010.

"I wrote the song while travelling with the charity and was looking for the right singer" he says "Jennifer is an absolutely amazing young talent. When she performed at the Festival last year it was an X-factor moment – she caught everyone's attention and I knew she'd be the perfect person to sing the song."

Carry Me Home can be viewed on YouTube now (click here) and will be available as a download from May 1st to raise money for Georgia's Children of the World. The charity supports children in the UK and overseas, with projects in Salford (Georgia's House 5, in partnership with The Life Centre on Langworthy Road, plus help for breakfast clubs and school uniforms), Cambodia (a school, a well and schoo, uniform help) and Romania (sending winter food parcels to children).
