SALFORD BOOKIE FRED DONE INCREASES WEALTH BY £300 MILLION

FRED AND PETER DONE NOW FIFTH RICHEST IN NORTH WEST
According to the new Sunday Times Rich List, Salford's Fred and Peter Done increased their wealth by £300million last year, making them the fifth richest people in the North West, with a combined wealth of £1.3billion.
According to Salford Star research, the Dones have also avoided over £3million in planning fees to the city for their controversial apartment schemes, including the bulldozing of the Salford listed Black Horse pub.

According to the new Sunday Times Rich List, which comes out this Sunday April 24th, the Done brothers, Fred and Peter, increased their wealth by £300million last year, making them the fifth richest people in the North West.
As well as owning Betfred bookies, Fred and Peter also have interests in insurance, sports promotion, a restaurant and property which makes them worth £1.3billion, putting them at joint 82nd richest people in the whole country.
The brothers, who make a big play on coming from Salford, have come under fire recently for avoiding planning fees and insisting on bulldozing the Salford listed Black Horse pub on the Crescent.
Their property company FICM is behind plans to build two horrendous 16 and 12 storey blocks housing 380 flats next to the old Black Friar pub on Trinity. At a Salford Council planning meeting in March last year, FCIM stated that it couldn't afford to pay £1,283,970 in planning fees for the development…
…Nor could it afford to build 76 affordable housing units, which were obligatory, because the scheme wouldn't be `viable' if it had to pay up ie its profits wouldn't be high enough. Indeed, the company couldn't even afford to pay for two new bus stops on Blackfriars Road requested by Transport for Greater Manchester. Salford City Council let the Dones off making any payments at all, merely inserting a `clawback' agreement that should the company make huge profits it could pay a few pence back.
Having been let off paying this huge amount of money, FCIM then went to Greater Manchester Housing Fund and got a cheap £17.312milion loan towards the building of the two Blackfriars blocks. This development alone was enough to win Fred Done the Salford Star Mary Burns Feed The Rich Award (see here). But then the Dones came back for more Salford space, this time destroying heritage as they went…
With another of their companies, Property (Done) Ltd, the Dones got planning permission this month for 399 unaffordable flats in blocks up to 21 storeys high within the Crescent conservation area, which included the bulldozing of the Salford listed Black Horse pub.
Historic England slated the proposal and its "proposed height and slab-like design", stating that it will "constitute a high level of harm to the character and appearance of the Crescent conservation area". Even Salford Council planning officers acknowledged that "a high degree of harm is caused to the setting of the conservation area and of the listed buildings on Crescent frontage". Yet planning permission was granted without the Dones having to fork out an estimated £1,932,000, again because the scheme wouldn't be `viable' if they had to pay up (see previous Salford Star article – click here).
For just the two schemes in Salford, the Dones have avoided over £3million in planning fees, plus the provision of 76 affordable properties while getting a cheap £17million loan. And in the process will bulldoze the Black Horse pub in the Crescent conservation area.
It's no wonder Fred and Peter's wealth has increased by £300million – and they won't even build a couple of bus stops for the people of Salford.
• Meanwhile, John Whittaker and family, who own Peel Holdings, have unfortunately seen their wealth reduced by £30million over the last year, according to the Sunday Times Rich List, making them worth a paltry £2.34billion – but still the third wealthiest in the North West and the 47th richest people in the country.

| Fred went to Trafford Road school which was next to 9 dock gates and like most of the lads probably went to prestatyn camp, its pay back time Fred.He put up the prize money of £300.000 for one race meeting last month, for the haves.Could be feeling pinch. |

| I would like to ask Mr Fred and Mr Peter done as being proud Salford lads if they would donate. The fifty thousand pounds that Salford Coucils stopped paying to the Salford Childrens Holiday Camp in Prestatyn N Wales because of cuts to their budget?? The Camp was closed and talks of selling the camp depriving children a holiday by the sea which lots of children have never had. A lot of people fought to stop this from happening and at the last minuite the camp was given another chance. We are still desperate to keep it up and running for future Salford and Manchester children. The camp has been open since 1926 and thousands of children have had a brilliant week there. If anyone knows the Done brothers l would be very grateful if they could pass this on to them x |

| Nothing surprises me any more. The rich are getting richer and god help the poor.In 2015 14000 people were on the waiting list. 27 people are bidding for each FLAT that becomes vacant. And 38 people are bidding for each AFFORDABLE house. Yet Salford labour council can let a multi millionaire get the green light to build these obnoxious apartments with NO affordable properties. these multi millionaires apply and get cheap loans to carry out the death of this conservation area. Plus they don't pay any planning monies. YES one law of the rich and sod the rest of us. Make your vote count in May and get some democracy back in Salford before it is too late |
