WILL SALFORD CITY MAYOR REVEAL INCOME TAX RETURNS?

Star date: 11th April 2016

CORBYN CALLS FOR EVERYONE IN PUBLIC LIFE TO REVEAL TAX RETURNS

Yesterday, Labour Party Leader Jeremy Corbyn argued that everyone "involved in public life" should reveal their income tax returns..."Money and politics have to be treated with the greatest sense of openness possible" he added...

So will Salford City Mayor, Ian Stewart, now reveal his income tax returns for the last six years? Don't hold your breath...

Full details here...

In the wake of the scandal currently rocking the Prime Minister, yesterday, on BBC One's Andrew Marr show, Labour Party Leader, Jeremy Corbyn suggested that everyone "involved in public life" should reveal their income tax returns.

"I think it's probably a good thing if we move generally in that direction so that everybody knows what influences are at play" Jeremy Corbyn said "Money and politics have to be treated with the greatest sense of openness possible, so you know what influences are at work on any individual on whatever political or any other decisions they make."

Scotland's First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, has now published her tax returns along with Scottish Labour Leader, Kezia Dugdale, who said "There is an obligation on all of us who seek to serve the public to be transparent...Not since the MPs expenses scandal has there been such palpable anger at the sense of unfairness at the heart of our society. Politicians need to not only play by the rules, they need to be seen to be playing by the rules."

With Labour Party leaders revealing their returns and calling for others in "public life" to do likewise, will Salford City Mayor, Ian Stewart, publish his tax returns for the last six years in the name of what Kezia Dugdale called "an obligation on all of us who seek to serve the public to be transparent"?

The Salford Star awaits a response...

Is it only me that does not want to see his Tax return. I just want him to go along with all of those who should get on a train out of Salford.

Steve would he ever show anything, the only thing he is free at giving is his sickly horrid grin and when we see this you can guarantee that there will always be something that he will deprive the vulnerable in our city of.I am just so sad he has not been brought to justice for how he has spent monies that should have gone to securing our services for the most vulnerable i hope his replacement has more guts and courage to stand up for our city not squander money on things that are not even of interest to us we will be watching our next one closely

SALFORD STAR – 15 YEARS OF ATTITUDE AND LOVE XXX

The Salford Star closes tonight after 15 years of giving the community a voice, holding power to account and bigging up all the great things that have happened in the city.

Thousands of people in Salford have been involved in one way or another with the Star and we'd like to thank them all. Salford is a very special city and, hopefully, we've given it a very special community publication.

THREATS, LIES, FEAR AND LOATHING IN SALFORD...

Today, the Salford Star shuts down but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. Here the Salford Star editor, Stephen Kingston, looks at how democracy perished badly under the Salford mayoral system.

THEY WILL TRY TO DISCREDIT YOU...TO BLOCK YOU, TO SHUT YOU DOWN

We are almost at the final closure of the Salford Star but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. In South America they just blow up the offices of journalists that don't play the game. Here they just financially assassinate you...

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE – GUY GRIFFITHS ON THE HUMAN COST OF PATHFINDER DEMOLITIONS

Star date: 16th May 2021

THE HUMAN COST OF REGENERATION

The Griffiths brothers of Higher Broughton are kind of infamous as the only people to be forcefully evicted from their house as part of the Pathfinder 'housing market renewal' project during the first decade of the 21st Century.

Here, Guy Griffiths, now living in 'sunny' north Wales and one of the main inspirations for the Salford Star's creation, writes the second part his own personal view of the Government project that devastated communities throughout Central Salford.
