TORY GOVERNMENT GIVES SALFORD JUST £70,000 TO PREVENT HOMELESSNESS

AS HOMELESSNESS RISES IN SALFORD TORIES GIVE PEANUTS
With the number of rough sleepers and people at risk of losing their homes rising in Salford, the Tory Government has handed the city just £70,319 this year to reduce and prevent homelessness.
Marcus Jones, Tory Under-Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, said in answering a question on the funding from Salford and Eccles MP Rebecca Long-Bailey "We are committed to do all we can to prevent homelessness".

With at least forty homeless people sleeping rough on the streets (treble the official number)…With 27 people bidding for every social housing flat in Salford…with one person in 63 at risk of losing their homes in the city (the second highest in the North West)…and with rising rents and Bedroom Tax arrears putting even more people at risk, the Tory Government has handed Salford peanuts this year to deal with the growing crisis.
A written answer by Marcus Jones, Tory Under-Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, to Salford and Eccles MP and Shadow Treasury Minister, Rebecca Long-Bailey, reveals that the Government has handed Salford only £70,319 this year to reduce and prevent homelessness; itself a cut of £272 from the previous year.
Boasting that the Tories have "protected the homelessness prevention funding local authorities receive", he added "One person without a home is one too many and we are committed to do all we can to prevent homelessness".
Commenting on the state of homelessness in the city recently, following the murder of homeless man, Daniel Smith, Angela `Penny' Barratt of the Street Support Salford and Manchester group, said "I think we've gone back to the dark ages"…
With just over £70,000 to prevent hundreds of struggling Salford families from potentially becoming homeless, the Tories are paying dark ages prices too…

| Council put homeless in hotels for up to 114/230 pounds a week,but wont put them in permanent accommodation for around £70/80 pound per week,how does this,make any sense?? |
