It's been announced today that former Salford and Eccles MP, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government and MPs expenses poster girl, Hazel Blears, has been appointed chair of the Social Investment Business (SIB).

Hazel takes up her new role in April, working on average for three days a month, and pocketing a reported £25,000 a year. SIB is a `social investment specialist' managing grants and loans for charities and social enterprises.

This latest gig comes on top of becoming a Member-Nominated Director of the Co-op group last May for a basic fee of £60,000 a year which takes up `a minimum of approximately one to two days a month'.

In total, Hazel Blears will earn £85,000 for doing around five days work per month...

"Social investment has enormous potential to help us tackle some of our biggest social challenges, such as improving dementia care, and I am determined to make sure money can go where it is needed most" she said today in relation to the SIB appointment...

Good old Hazel, still climbing the beanstalk I see! Glad we can take consolation in the fact we now have a decent MP in place of her crooked cloggs!

sickening at these times of hardship in salford. I do not think Paul Wilson would be trying to become mayor is the pay packet waa not £70,000. And it is going to be interesting to read what other labour names will try for the salford mayor £70,000 pay or if they ever bother to write on here to we readers before they get to pick up the mad mayor money.

It just shows what a farce the Labour Party are and how they have lost their socialist values Look at how many of our ex Labour MPs have their snouts in the trough, Blears, the useless Mayor Ian Stewart and Tony LLoyd our unelected Mayor. At least we expect this from the Tories!

And don't departing MPs get a 'resettlement grant' of between 50% and 100% of their final salary. Ms. Blears obviously needed that to cope with her loss of employment.

SALFORD STAR – 15 YEARS OF ATTITUDE AND LOVE XXX

The Salford Star closes tonight after 15 years of giving the community a voice, holding power to account and bigging up all the great things that have happened in the city.

Thousands of people in Salford have been involved in one way or another with the Star and we'd like to thank them all. Salford is a very special city and, hopefully, we've given it a very special community publication.

THREATS, LIES, FEAR AND LOATHING IN SALFORD...

Today, the Salford Star shuts down but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. Here the Salford Star editor, Stephen Kingston, looks at how democracy perished badly under the Salford mayoral system.

A WHIFF OF FREEDOM AS RESTRICTIONS ARE EASED

Salford has 7 new coronavirus cases, down from the previous day's 14, while the seven day rate per 100,000 population now stands at 30.1, down from 30.9. There have been no new virus-related deaths announced by Salford Royal Hospital.

THEY WILL TRY TO DISCREDIT YOU...TO BLOCK YOU, TO SHUT YOU DOWN

We are almost at the final closure of the Salford Star but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. In South America they just blow up the offices of journalists that don't play the game. Here they just financially assassinate you...

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE – GUY GRIFFITHS ON THE HUMAN COST OF PATHFINDER DEMOLITIONS

Star date: 16th May 2021

THE HUMAN COST OF REGENERATION

The Griffiths brothers of Higher Broughton are kind of infamous as the only people to be forcefully evicted from their house as part of the Pathfinder 'housing market renewal' project during the first decade of the 21st Century.

Here, Guy Griffiths, now living in 'sunny' north Wales and one of the main inspirations for the Salford Star's creation, writes the second part his own personal view of the Government project that devastated communities throughout Central Salford.
