Salford Motorcycle Action Group, or Salford MAG, has been incredibly busy over the last year, organising a huge, ultimately successful, protest ride against armadillos being introduced at the Irlams o' th' Height roundabout (see previous Salford Star article – click here), influencing Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) policy and supporting the annual Salford Santa Run to Christie hospital.
"Salford Motorcycle Action Group was formed at a meeting at The Duke of York, Eccles, on a cold and damp Thursday night in October 2014" says Blayz of Salford MAG "One year on and we have made significant inroads to TfGM; we have been invited to attend workshops around future designs for all transport needs, and we are currently in discussions with a key player within TfGM around power two wheelers being allowed access to bus lanes.
"Transport for Greater Manchester acknowledges that powered two wheelers are conducive to successful future transport plans and over the next twelve months Salford MAG intends to remind them of that" he adds "If you are prepared to fight for what you believe in, and not just cry about what you have lost, then Salford MAG wants you. Whether you ride two wheels or not, we are open for all supporters. Come along to our AGM and help form our plans for the next year, or just come and watch democracy in action..."
