We've had the rallies, the signs, the pig masks and the party. Now get the ebook of the protest against the Tories. Salford based author Ian Pattinson has written a short mystery adventure which takes place in the protests due to greet the 2015 Conservative Party Conference.

As thousands march to protest against the Conservative Party and their policies, one large crowd is being held – kettled - in St Ann's Square. Somewhere in the crowd are paid troublemakers planning to start a riot, to discredit the demonstration and usher in new laws against protest.

Kettled is the fourth ebook in the Rain and Bullets series of crime and adventure stories by Ian and in this episode series regulars, ex MI6 operative Irwin Baker and Detective Kay Wood of the Serious Crimes Squad, have to find the agents provocateurs before they start any violence.

However, their contact in the crowd has been stabbed, and needs rescuing before they can do anything. And they only have pictures of one of the men they're looking for. They must persuade unwilling activists to help them, and find out who stabbed their contact.

Kettled is a novelette (10,000 words) and is published as an ebook for Kindle on Amazon priced 99p. To download it click here

Having just returned from a great demonstration with over 60,000 concerned and politically aware people I was stimulated and enthused. Like a junkie I needed more it seems and thought I'd get this short story for my late night reading. Intriguing stuff but only if you know the geography of Manchester. It took us round every corner and cobbled street of central Manchester to arrive at St. Ann's Square where this kettling and crime happened. It was a picture of devious and complex police machinations. I lost track of who was the criminal and suspect the aim of the writer was to leave us intrigued, even worried about the secret life of the Police. Only cost 99p, less that a coffee; a cheap hour's read!

SALFORD STAR – 15 YEARS OF ATTITUDE AND LOVE XXX

The Salford Star closes tonight after 15 years of giving the community a voice, holding power to account and bigging up all the great things that have happened in the city.

Thousands of people in Salford have been involved in one way or another with the Star and we'd like to thank them all. Salford is a very special city and, hopefully, we've given it a very special community publication.

THREATS, LIES, FEAR AND LOATHING IN SALFORD...

Today, the Salford Star shuts down but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. Here the Salford Star editor, Stephen Kingston, looks at how democracy perished badly under the Salford mayoral system.

THEY WILL TRY TO DISCREDIT YOU...TO BLOCK YOU, TO SHUT YOU DOWN

We are almost at the final closure of the Salford Star but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. In South America they just blow up the offices of journalists that don't play the game. Here they just financially assassinate you...

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE – GUY GRIFFITHS ON THE HUMAN COST OF PATHFINDER DEMOLITIONS

Star date: 16th May 2021

THE HUMAN COST OF REGENERATION

The Griffiths brothers of Higher Broughton are kind of infamous as the only people to be forcefully evicted from their house as part of the Pathfinder 'housing market renewal' project during the first decade of the 21st Century.

Here, Guy Griffiths, now living in 'sunny' north Wales and one of the main inspirations for the Salford Star's creation, writes the second part his own personal view of the Government project that devastated communities throughout Central Salford.
