Protest the Tory Party Conference
Saturday 3rd October – Wednesday 7th October

As the Conservative Party comes to Manchester for its conference, from 3rd-7th October, there's a whole five days of protest events, with the focal point Sunday 4th October's national demonstration: No to Austerity - Yes to Workers Rights.

There's also Laugh Them Out of Town at the Manchester Academy with a line-up including Frankie Boyle and Mark Steel; The People's Post Rally at Manchester Cathedral with Jeremy Corbyn; Anti-austerity Theatre, compared by Terry Christian at the Dance House; Music Against Austerity with the Super Furry Animals and Charlotte Church; and a People's March against Austerity that comes through Salford.

With anger growing that the Conservative Party has dared to have its national conference in Manchester again, the list of protest events is mushrooming every day.

The main demonstration happens on Sunday 4th October with a No to Austerity - Yes to Workers Rights national demonstration, organised by the TUC and the People's Assembly, beginning at Oxford Road in Manchester at noon.
 
Joining that demo will be the People's March against Austerity, featuring campaigners who will have walked from Wirral West to protest. The March will be coming through Salford (details to be announced).

Elsewhere there's a response to Manchester City Council's hounding of the Homeless Camp in the form of loads of new camps, as campaigners are urged to `turn the whole city centre into ‪#‎TentCityMCR‬ ...we're asking everyone to come down for the week and set up around the Tory Party Conference'.

With Billy Bragg, Sam Duckworth, Billy Lunn, Brigitte Aphrodite, Eat The Evidence and more, plus a Reverse Supermarket Sweep in aid of Manchester South  Central Food Bank, and a Foreign Currency Exchange to give your old foreign money to help the displaced.

Evening
Anti-austerity Theatre
Compared by Terry Christian, this is an evening of plays, comedy sketch shows and spoken word, including Knock Knock, an anti-austerity play written and directed by Kate Marlow; Flick and Julie's Pop Up Penny Pinchers Anti Austerity comedy sketch show and poetry by Stephen Morrison Burke.

6pm Space for Cycling Campaign: Ride round Tory Conference 

Evening
7pm: Faith Against Austerity - cross faith meeting followed by vigil in Manchester Cathedral. Speakers include David Walker (Bishop of Manchester), Niall Cooper (Church Action on Poverty), Penny Hicks (Manchester People's Assembly) and other faith leaders. Climate Change Direct Action, organised by Campaign Against Climate Change, Friends of the Earth, This Changes Everything and anti-fracking groups...
