Inspired by Naomi Klein's bestselling book, This Changes Everything: Capitalism v The Climate, the film, This Changes Everything, gets its Greater Manchester premiere next Saturday - to kick off two months of action on climate change leading up to the Paris Climate Conference.
Filmed over 211 shoot days in nine countries and five continents over four years, This Changes Everything is an attempt to re-imagine the vast challenge of climate change.
Naomi Klein admits that she has "always kind of hated films about climate change", and so the film turns the traditional narrative of climate change on its head by presenting seven powerful portraits of communities on the front lines of the climate threat, from Montana's Powder River Basin to the coast of South India and beyond.
Interwoven with these stories of struggle is Klein's narration, connecting the dangerous levels of carbon in our atmosphere with the economic system that put it there. Throughout the film, Klein builds to her most controversial and exciting idea: that we can seize the crisis of climate change to transform our failed economic system into something radically better.

The film, hosted by Manchester Friends of the Earth and Fossil Free UK, will be shown simultaneously in cities across the globe, and it's followed by a live Q and A session with Naomi Klein and director Avi Lewis, streamed from New York.
