SALFORD MPS SPLIT ON LABOUR LEADERSHIP VOTE

Star date: 7th August 2015 CORBYN MANIA NOT QUITE REACHED SALFORD! Salford MPs are split on their support for the Labour Party leadership, with Rebecca Long-Bailey opting for Jeremy Corbyn, Graham Stringer fancying Yvette Cooper and Barbara Keeley opting for Andy Burnham. Meanwhile, Corbyn-mania has not quite hit Salford, with only four Labour councillors coming out officially for the anti-cuts candidate. Full details here...

As expected from a Labour Council that has privatised virtually everything, passed £millions of cuts without hardly a whimper and taken on parents of disabled adults through the courts, Jeremy Corbyn mania has hardly reached Salford. The support of the local MPs is split between three candidates – with Salford and Eccles MP Rebecca Long-Bailey opting for Jeremy Corbyn, Blackley and Broughton MP Graham Stringer fancying Yvette Cooper, and Worsley and Eccles South MP, Barbara Keeley opting for Andy Burnham. The Salford and Eccles Constituency Labour Party has come out in favour of the staunchly anti-cuts Jeremy Corbyn, as has something called (the lesser spotted) Red Labour Salford; while four local councillors - Kate Lewis, Joe Murphy, Gina Reynolds and John Ferguson – have also publicly shown their support for Corbyn on his official endorsement web page. Former Salford City Council Leader, John Merry, is backing Andy Burnham; Councillor John Warmisham appears to be backing Corbyn, and Councillor Howard Balkind seems to be the only person in the world publicly backing Liz Kendall... Meanwhile, there's no word from Salford City Mayor Ian Stewart as to where his vote is going. Residents can only guess...

| Corbyn or not, Labour have had it and one less lousy political party is good news for those of us that believe in true democracy. The Labour turmoil exposes the fact that the politicians (of all parties) are nearly always more engrossed in their own crappy squabbles, for themselves or for The Party, than they are about actually, properly, representing the people of the UK. Political parties have wedged themselves in between the people and power and act in their own interests, simple as that. Just listen to how many times a politician says ‘I think…’ or ‘My Party wants…’ rather than ‘My constituents want…’ |

| I was expelled by Labour six years ago for being too left wing in Doncaster. The witch hunt to out moderate lefties by its Labour Party officers has finally back fired as the controlling right wing is seen to be manipulating what should be a true caring socialist movement. I remain denied a vote for Corbyn. When he is elected Labour Leader I will write to him personally to ask him to trawl all the last ten year's expulsions and invite us to come back to an improved grass-root listening leadership organisation. I will then give all to make Salford Council sit up and listen to people. This is the greatest time for Labour and it will never come again. Labour people must vote Corbyn. |

| It is clear from all the feedback on here that the people of Salford want Corbyn elected. Labour Party Councillors should listen. Their last hope of being even a minority party rests with this result. If it is anything but Corbyn The Labour Party will split into fragments; turmoil, backstabbing, destruction will follow as Labour finally falls off the cliff. |

| The Liebour Red Tories are irrelevant in Scotland, Northern Ireland and it will not be long before wales. The chance of them ever being in government is almost impossible. Corbyn is saying what the people feel and think, but the party leaders are so disconnected for reality that they have no clue anymore. Watching all the stage managed events at election time, seeing the same party activists being peddled as members of the public was no more than expected. The devolution is the only was these people can keep hold of any power, the reason why, no referendum !!! |

| Mr Balkind should be reminded that the only reason he still is a councilor, after his actions at the local election was due to his Freemason connections at GMP and CPS. They look after their own. Crawl back under your rock, it's not election time. |

| Howard Balkind, as en ex-Tory, has correctly sniffed out the most Tory of the four candidates, Liz Kendall. They deserve each other. As a TUSC supporter I wish Jeremy Corbyn well. His campaign has been a breath of fresh air. But I will not be forking out £3 for a vote in this charade. If Jeremy wins he will hit a brick wall. He will face the dead hand of the Labour machine - who may well declare the result invalid, I wouldn't put it past them - and downright hostility from the Parliamentary Labour Party. He and his supporters need to find a new home and it's not Labour. |

| Although expelled by The Labour Party for the past 6 years - if the vote is one vote short please note I would have voted Jeremy Corbyn based on his excellent campaign. He has blown the others away. Jeremy will make future UK elections interesting - Him, Cameron and Farage pitching in UK policies. I trust we will see Salford emerge as the Out of EU lead campaigner because we in Salford would benefit from EU exit. |
