20,000 COPIES OF THE SALFORD STAR TO HIT THE STREETS

After seven years of being online, the Salford Star is now out in print again, with 20,000 free copies set to hit homes, pubs, shops, cafes and community centres.

The Star features an interview with Christopher Eccleston, huge articles on regeneration gone wrong, a £19million planning scandal and the climate of fear sweeping the city as dissent is almost outlawed. There's also features on Roman Treasure in Salford, the Swinton Lions roaring back and Murder Most Foul...plus a free gift for every reader!

The last printed issue of the Salford Star came out in autumn 2008 and, since it's been online only, over 2,750 articles have appeared on the website. But every day we've dreamed of getting it back in print. Now, thanks to the support of our readers, that day has come, with 20,000 free copies currently hitting Salford's streets, pubs, cafes, shops and community centres.

The 48 page issue, in a new large newsprint format, features an interview with Christopher Eccleston, a huge section on The End Of Salford, taking in Social Cleansing and the re-branding of Salford as `Manchester'; the £19million Planning Scandal; fuel poverty and 'leccy bill madness in Pendleton Untogether, and secrecy and sour Vimto fumes in Chapel Street.

There's also Murder Most Foul – the case of Anthony Davis, banged up for 35 years for murder, when he was five miles away at the time...plus the climate of cuts fear that's taking hold in a society lurching back to Dickensian days. If anyone thought that the General and Local Election would change things, they were wrong.
