Next Sunday, 31st May, a celeb Once Upon A Smile footy team, featuring soap stars, tv actors and ex-pros, takes on local team Broadway Vets as part of a massive charity fun day at Irlam Steel Works Club.
Other attractions include fairground rides, superslides, bouncy castles, an under-5s soft play area, appearances from a Minion, SpongeBob, and Elsie and Anna from Frozen who will be doing some songs. Uncle Budgie will be entertaining children, the RDA Irish dancers will be jigging away at half time during the football match, and local singer/songwriter Jess Kemp will be performing some of her tunes.
There's also stalls selling everything from jewellery to sweets, plus a grand raffle with some great prizes, including an overnight stay for two at the Hotel Football, a photography location shoot voucher with Diamond Capture Photography, two passes for Daytona Manchester, a signed Luke Shaw photo, tickets to watch Lancashire CCC and Sale Sharks, a voucher for Knowsley Safari Park and loads more, even a much prized MOT voucher. Tickets are £1.50 each or £5 a strip and can be bought on the day or by contacting the organisers in advance*
It's all for two great causes, the Once Upon A Smile children's bereavement charity that provides financial assistance, respite breaks and support, and JDRF, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The event is being organised by Natalie Allanson and Michael Coates, whose five year old son has Type One Diabetes.
"I would like to say a special thank you to all the companies both local to Irlam and those further afield that have generously donated items for the raffle in particular" says Natalie "The event has been organised to help raise awareness and funds for the two charities."
