Walkden, Eccles and Swinton Libraries are hosting free two day digital skills workshops for unemployed women looking to get back into work.
On Tuesday 24th March and Wednesday 25th March, 9.30am-2.30pm, at Walkden Library, there's a Basic Computer Skills workshop looking at the use of Microsoft Office, and how to find and share information on the internet.
On Monday 30th March and Wednesday 1st April, 9.30am-2.30pm, at Eccles Library, there's a Social Media workshop, finding out how to use Facebook, Twitter and more for networking and job searches.
On Monday 11th May and Tuesday 12th May, 9.30am-2.30pm, at Eccles Library there's a course on How To Build Your Own Website
On Tuesday 19th May and Wednesday 20th May, 9.30am-2.30pm, at Swinton Library, there's an Introduction To Computer Programming, covering the ins and outs of coding and developing software.
"These courses build on the work that is already going on throughout the libraries in Salford to provide the community with both access to digital technology and also the skills to fully exploit the opportunities that it offers" says Sarah Spence, Head of Salford Community Libraries "By targeting those looking for work these courses allow women to develop practical and valuable skills that could really set them apart in the job market."
"Salford Community Libraries are perfectly suited to offer such courses as they provide informal and friendly spaces that are open to everyone" she adds "All libraries in Salford offer free internet access to members and library staff are available to support those wanting to improve their skills."
The four free courses are being run by MadLab - a self funded enterprise which aims to encourage digital learning.
