The community-owned Star Inn on Back Hope Street, near The Cliff in Higher Broughton, is having an all day Fundraising Party today, with games, live music, a buffet and raffle.
The pub is having the Party to raise funds and awareness of the historic inn, which dates back to 1846. It recently celebrated the fifth anniversary since re-opening and got a visit from Pubs Minister Kris Hopkins (see previous Salford Star article – click here).
Throughout the day there's going to be a pool tournament on the new table, a chance to challenge the Star's Ladies Darts team on the original Manchester dart board plus other pub games. And this evening, there will be a live free-fall jazz happening and a buffet.
All day there's going to be tickets on sale at £1 for a raffl, with prizes including tickets to see John Cooper Clarke, Belle and Sebastian and Elbow, plus a brewery tour of The First Chop Brewing Arm for six people, signed Elbow and Belle and Sebastian stuff, a Jolly Butcher meat pack, Flawless Beauty treatments and four tickets for the Manchester Wheel.
All proceeds from the day will go towards the running of the ace Star Inn.
