SALFORD BROTHERS SEX SCANDAL TO BE AIRED ON CHANNEL 5

"He'd demolished my family over sex. Well done, cheers bro..." Rhodri Giggs

On Wednesday night, Rhodri Giggs will reveal, for the first time on tv, the truth about how he found out that his wife had been having a secret affair with his own brother, the Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs.

Ryan not only had Rhodri's wife, he also had his former football club, Salford City FC, as part of the Class of '92 takeover...

Back in 2011 when Rhodri Giggs was player manager of Salford City FC, the front page news scandal broke that famous brother Ryan had been having a secret, sordid affair with his wife, Natasha.

Now, as part of Channel 5's new series, He Left Me For My Mother...And Other Betrayals, Rhodri is to reveal for the first time on tv how he found out about the affair. As a preview, he told Wales Online:  "Natasha had done a disappearing act one day, I'd been playing football at Old Trafford, came home and fallen asleep early and woke up at 3am and she wasn't home. At 6am her mum knocked on the door with a paper and a letter. That's how I found out, from reading the News of The World with her mum sitting next to me.

"I phoned him saying 'Is it true?" but he denied it" Rhodri added "I didn't know what to believe. You've got two people here you supposedly trust, and you want to believe both of them. But Natasha showed me texts, pictures Ryan had sent of himself. Messages that I sent on to him. He told me 'It meant nothing, it was just sex'. He'd demolished my family over sex. Well done, cheers bro..."

Rhodri, now separated from Natasha also revealed that he hasn't spoken to Ryan since... "I don't care about an apology I just want to get on with my life" he explained "That cloud will be over his head, and her head. My conscience is very clear."

Having had Rhodri's wife, Ryan's next move was to have his former football club, Salford City, which Rhodri had graced both as a player and manager, winning the Salford Star Sports Personality of the Year 2010 in the same year that Ryan won the BBC equivalent (see here).

Ryan Giggs – along with Paul Scholes, the Neville brothers, Nicky Butt and David Beckham - was part of the `Class of '92' conglomerate which bought out Salford City this season. The club is now unrecognisable from the one which Rhodri was involved with, having changed the club colours from tangerine to red and white, taken the word `Salford' off the shirts and provided a huge budget for players which has seen the team regularly in the top three of the Evo-Stik First Division North. Rhodri himself now plays for FC United in the Evo-Stik Premier League.

Update: 11th January:

Class of '92 Have No Class Says Sacked Salford City Boss

Salford City manager, Phil Power, who was sacked by Salford City last week despite the team being second in the league, has accused the club's Class of '92 owners of having no class.

Power, who works for Salford City Council, laid into Gary and Phil Neville, Paul Scholes et al, in an exclusive interview with the Scottish Daily Express last night, explaining, "The biggest disappointment was that none of the lads (Class of 92) rang me up, either to thank me or to give me an explanation. It just came completely out of the blue. I've often seen Gary on TV or in the newspapers saying that managers should be given more time. So yes, it's definitely a bit hypocritical now isn't it?

"I respect the five lads for all their playing careers but as a manager I've had to get rid of players this season...No way would I dream of texting or even phoning them to tell them the news. I would sit the lad down and tell him it hadn't worked out" he said "I expected that back myself. That was the side of it that I am more disappointed with. Nobody had the time to meet me. I'm completely bewildered. Three days later Phil did send me a text and funny enough on Thursday Gary sent me a text - six days after being sacked.

"I've had managers from our league on the phone asking what the hell's going on?" he added "I'm not bitter just bewildered and very disappointed in the way I've been treated."

SALFORD STAR – 15 YEARS OF ATTITUDE AND LOVE XXX

The Salford Star closes tonight after 15 years of giving the community a voice, holding power to account and bigging up all the great things that have happened in the city.

Thousands of people in Salford have been involved in one way or another with the Star and we'd like to thank them all. Salford is a very special city and, hopefully, we've given it a very special community publication.

THREATS, LIES, FEAR AND LOATHING IN SALFORD...

Today, the Salford Star shuts down but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. Here the Salford Star editor, Stephen Kingston, looks at how democracy perished badly under the Salford mayoral system.

A WHIFF OF FREEDOM AS RESTRICTIONS ARE EASED

Salford has 7 new coronavirus cases, down from the previous day's 14, while the seven day rate per 100,000 population now stands at 30.1, down from 30.9. There have been no new virus-related deaths announced by Salford Royal Hospital.

We are almost at the final closure of the Salford Star but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. In South America they just blow up the offices of journalists that don't play the game. Here they just financially assassinate you...

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE – GUY GRIFFITHS ON THE HUMAN COST OF PATHFINDER DEMOLITIONS

Star date: 16th May 2021

THE HUMAN COST OF REGENERATION

The Griffiths brothers of Higher Broughton are kind of infamous as the only people to be forcefully evicted from their house as part of the Pathfinder 'housing market renewal' project during the first decade of the 21st Century.

Here, Guy Griffiths, now living in 'sunny' north Wales and one of the main inspirations for the Salford Star's creation, writes the second part his own personal view of the Government project that devastated communities throughout Central Salford.
