The Langworthy Cornerstone is always coming up with great ideas and unique fun days and its latest Afternoon Tea deal is working great for the community.
Every Thursday between 3pm and 4pm, Chimney Pots Café in the Cornerstone's foyer, is now serving traditional afternoon tea, complete with a selection of finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, homemade cake and tea, coffee or juice for £2.50 per person. And it's served in a traditional tea room ambience with tablecloths, smart crockery and gentle music wafting in the background.
"It's the real deal" says Chimney Pots' manager Paul Lomas "We do the café up nicely, we only charge £2.50 and you can have as much tea and coffee as you want and people are loving it, they come back every week."
While the Afternoon Tea is a top idea to get people socialising out of their houses, for those who volunteer to make and serve the fayre there's a qualification and a possible new career move on offer too.
"We want to get people from the community to come into the building and to maybe give them some confidence and some qualifications" Paul explains "If you volunteer you get your food hygiene course paid for by us and are allowed to come into the kitchen, work with food and then you can move onto something else. The food hygiene qualification lasts three years. You also get to meet and talk to other people. The idea is to get everyone in the kitchen working as volunteers."
