Star date: 21st February 2014

PEEL HOLDINGS FAILS TO GET IMMEDIATE EVICTION ORDER

Gig At The Rig
Sunday 23rd February 1:30pm onwards

Today at Manchester Civil Justice Centre, Peel Holdings failed in its bid to get an immediate eviction for the Barton Moss Community Protection Camp. The hearing was adjourned for two weeks, until 10:30am on March 6th. Speaking outside the Court, Vanda from the Camp said "This was the outcome we expected and needed".

The adjournment means that this Sundays Gig At The Rig, starring Hacienda DJ Dave Haslam and Barton Moss Camp singing legend Darren Nesbit will definitely go ahead.

Today, Peel Holdings/Peel Group, under the names of two of its companies, Manchester Ship Canal Developments Ltd and Peel Investments (North) Ltd, failed to get an immediate possession order to evict the Barton Moss Community Protection Camp.

At the Manchester Civil Justice Centre this morning, the judge rejected the argument from Peel's barrister for the need gain a possession order as quickly as possible, and adjourned the hearing until 10:30am on March 6th to give the Barton Moss protectors more time to get their defence case together.

However, the judge would not allow oral evidence to be heard at the forthcoming trial, only written witness statements.

Speaking outside the Court after the case, Vanda from the Camp told the Salford Star "This was the outcome we expected and needed and we're all going to go away and discuss what we are going to do to defend our side."

The adjournment means that this Sunday's anti-fracking carnival – Gig At The Rig – will definitely go ahead…

The courts seem to be the only thing between a police state. These are such dangerous times and we REALLY need to wake up and stop this. Our "police" force is completely out of control.

Hi everyone. Solidarity to you all. You are doing our country proud. We need to protect our land from this dangerous money making fracking. The people do not want fracking. Why should we all step back and let government corporations destroy our land and environment. We live on a tiny island and the land is already suffering from earthquakes and holes 25ft deep just appearing. We don't need further problems from fracking when there is so many different energy resources we could use. As for the police. I have watched all of the videos and I have to say I was not only shocked to the core but sickened to the pit of my stomach. There behaviour was not that of a police officers as I thought police were meant to keep the peace not intimidate, bully, and physically assault innocent peaceful protesters!!! The police should be up on charges for their violent attacks on innocent protesters. I was mortified at the state of the protesters after being attacked by the police. Blood, bruises and God knows what else. The world is watching them. They need to stop their thuggery and violence. It is not the way the police should be run. Sending lots of love and hugs from Runcorn. Solidarity comrades♥♡♥♡♥

Whats even more unbelievable, is the fact that the Police/GMP are getting away with it!!! and seem to have their own laws, of intimidation and Brutality!! My respect for our so called protective police force IS NO MORE!!!

Hello all. What you are doing is great. We all know fracking is dangerous. Now I know peel holdings are involved I can Understand why the bullying police are so Keen on breaking the law.by assaulting and threating You good people .it would not surprise me If those chief constables giving the orders have Shake hands friends in peel holdings . Corruption is rife. A tip if any of those army dodgers Assault any of you .take out a privite prosecution Against the cowards especially that sergeant And the one who strangled the girl .they are responsible For their unlawful actions .good luck .

SALFORD STAR – 15 YEARS OF ATTITUDE AND LOVE XXX

The Salford Star closes tonight after 15 years of giving the community a voice, holding power to account and bigging up all the great things that have happened in the city.

Thousands of people in Salford have been involved in one way or another with the Star and we'd like to thank them all. Salford is a very special city and, hopefully, we've given it a very special community publication.

THREATS, LIES, FEAR AND LOATHING IN SALFORD...

Today, the Salford Star shuts down but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. Here the Salford Star editor, Stephen Kingston, looks at how democracy perished badly under the Salford mayoral system.

THEY WILL TRY TO DISCREDIT YOU...TO BLOCK YOU, TO SHUT YOU DOWN

We are almost at the final closure of the Salford Star but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. In South America they just blow up the offices of journalists that don't play the game. Here they just financially assassinate you...

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE – GUY GRIFFITHS ON THE HUMAN COST OF PATHFINDER DEMOLITIONS

Star date: 16th May 2021

THE HUMAN COST OF REGENERATION

The Griffiths brothers of Higher Broughton are kind of infamous as the only people to be forcefully evicted from their house as part of the Pathfinder 'housing market renewal' project during the first decade of the 21st Century.

Here, Guy Griffiths, now living in 'sunny' north Wales and one of the main inspirations for the Salford Star's creation, writes the second part his own personal view of the Government project that devastated communities throughout Central Salford.
