THE DAILY MAIL HATES BRITAIN PROTEST

Sunday 6th October 12pm noon
Exchange Street, Manchester

As the Daily Mail, famed for backing the fascist British blackshirts and Hitler, accuses Ed Miliband's dad, Ralph, of `hating Britain', Manchester and Salford people are hitting back tomorrow with a protest outside the Daily Mail's office on Exchange Street around the corner from St Ann's Square in Manc city centre.

After the Daily Malice printed rubbish about Ralph Miliband `hating Britain' and most people with a brain cell condemning the obnoxious attack on Labour Leader, Ed Miliband's family, Salford and Manchester people are joining together tomorrow, at noon, for a `The Daily Mail Hates Britain' protest outside the paper's office on Exchange Street, around the corner from St Ann's Square, near Barton Arcade.

The protest organisers, the Manchester People's Assembly, explain it all in a statement on the protest's Facebook event page…

"So, the Daily Mail accused Ralph Miliband - a Jewish refugee who fled the Holocaust and proudly fought the Nazis - of `hating Britain'. The irony. This is a paper that once backed the Blackshirts and Adolf Hitler, whose genocidal regime posed arguably the greatest threat this country has faced in its entire existence.

"But the truth is the Daily Mail hates Britain more than anyone. It hates its proudest institutions, like the BBC and the NHS, which the Tory Nigel Lawson once described as `the closest the English have to a religion'. It hates public sector workers, who range from dinner ladies to nurses - the pillars of our society. It hates trade unionists, who belong to Britain's biggest democratic movement. It hates women generally. It hates Muslims. It hates travellers. In its long, hateful past, it has spewed hate at Jews and gays.

"It really is just one big inky fountain of hatred. But for too long we've ignored it, almost like an eccentric misguided relative, stuck in a bygone era, but largely harmless. In reality it is a poison in public life, bullying and blackmailing anyone and anything that gets in its way.

"So let's strike back. On Sunday, all the people hated by the Daily Mail - that's pretty all of us - are going to turn up at their headquarters, loud and proud about who we are. If you're a woman, a Muslim, LGBT, a nurse, a socialist, a trade union rep, or just someone who doesn't like hatred being pumped into public life every day, turn up.

"This is an upbeat, carnival-type protest, a statement of defiance against bigotry and hatred. So turn up in a good mood, with colourful banners, full of pride about who we all are…"

Salford councillors, trade unionists, journalists, community campaigners and lots more people are showing up to say `Salford Hates The Daily Mail'.

PS. The Salford Star loves Ralph Miliband. In the formative years of the printed magazine, his trust, which specialises in democracy, donated funds towards our early print editions. The Salford Star will be there at the protest tomorrow – `Ralph, this one's for you!'

The mail, the best paper in the country. Ralph millipede did't fight for this country he fought for his own which was Belgium, typical star trying to bring racial connotations in to it when there was none and I thought the star was A- political, was't this what you said to salford council when they withdrew funding for the star when they said you was a political mag, seems they were right. Any person wanting to change this country in to a communist state do's hate this country, the mail was right and thank god we still live in a country that has a free press, something the star should be fighting for, under Ralph millipede you would't have had a free press. To all the lefties, get a life, and get out of mine with your pc crap

@ wrote, you seem to forget that Labour have had a long period in power since then ( on the back of a thatcher worshiper ) they had plenty of time to make changes but just bloated the public sector and over spent on the credit card, a fact most lefties don’t seem to accept

EVEN SALFORD MP IS BEING DISSED BY PENDLETON TOGETHER ON DANGEROUS CLADDING ISSUE

Star date: 23rd October 2018

PENDLETON TOGETHER TOTAL LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY

The lack of accountability surrounding Pendleton Together, which manages the dangerously cladded blocks owned by Salford City Council, is becoming critical.

Even Salford and Eccles MP Rebecca Long-Bailey is getting dissed by the company when trying to set up meetings, while an email from the Salford Star asking to see the Trident report on safety in the blocks has been ignored, despite the Salford City Mayor stating that its conclusions, at least, should be released.

Here, the suspended chair of Malus Court TARA, Graeme Langton, reports on a Parliamentary reception he attended last week with the Salford MP...

CALLOUS COUNCIL TAX LETTER SCARES ELDERLY

Hundreds, and possibly thousands, of letters have been sent by Salford City Council to elderly people threatening them with the loss of their single person Council Tax discount as it states 'Records show that multiple adults are living at your address', even though they are widows and widowers. The letter tells them to fill in an online form 'within the next 14 days' or the discount will be cancelled.

"It's not fair to be treating your senior citizens in this way, it's just callous" says Jill Royle, whose 92 year old non-computer literate mother became totally agitated on receiving the letter "Salford Council needs to know how much anguish it's caused."

AFTER TWO DAY STRIKE HOSPITAL WORKERS WIN NHS PAY PARITY

"We stuck together and we won!" Vicky, cleaner at Royal Bolton Hospital

Bolton Royal Hospital workers are celebrating a massive victory after taking two days of strike action over pay parity earlier this month, supported by Salford UNISON and many other trade unionists.

The workers, who include cleaners, catering staff, porters and security staff, are employed by Bolton NHS Trust's subsidiary company iFM, doing the same jobs as other NHS workers but were offered pay at a lesser rate. Now they have won an increase in line with other NHS workers, backdated to last April.

TONNES OF SALFORD RECYCLING PAPER REJECTED AS PEOPLE PUT WRONG STUFF IN BLUE BINS

Star date: 22nd October 2017

DIRTY NAPPIES AND PLASTIC BAGS PUT IN BLUE BINS

Tonnes of Salford's paper and card recycling collections are being rejected as people put the wrong stuff in blue bins, including dirty nappies, plastic bags, polystyrene packing and even electrical items.

Now Recycle for Greater Manchester has teamed up with Salford City Council to launch a What's In The Box? campaign to remind residents that only newspapers, magazines, greeting cards, paper wrapping paper, cardboard boxes and junk mail and envelopes can be put in the blue bins.
