Helped by local army units and community groups, Rory Coleman pushed a giant four meter high wheel from Old Trafford to Salford Shopping Centre this week to kick off Stopober, when people are encouraged to quit smoking for 28 days.
To help push the campaign even further, Rory is going to run 28 miles a day for 28 consecutive days through Liverpool, Leeds, Portsmouth, Newcastle , Bristol, Birmingham, Norwich, London and Cardiff.
"This is one of the biggest challenges I have ever taken on, but it was important for me to do something to support Stoptober" says Rory "Twenty years ago I was a chain-smoking alcoholic who could barely run to the corner shop let alone a mile. To see the difference that stopping smoking has made to my life has been overwhelming and I want more people to take the first initial steps to quitting."
Stopober is an NHS campaign and there's a special website set up with support tools and tips on how to keep going cig free for 28 days.
