Salford Choral Society has 130 members, performs to professional standards and is open for anyone to join. Its top showcase is the annual Christmas Concert, which this year features festive music by Mendelssohn, Berlioz, Bach and Handel, as well as traditional carols and, what should be a rousing rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus complete with audience participation.
The evening, at the Royal Northern College of Music, is presented by David Walton, who will add poignant and amusing readings, while the music and choir will be conducted by Matthew Hamilton.
