As the giant new Tesco looms over Salford Precinct, the shopping centre is fighting back with free entertainment in the weekends leading up to Christmas.
Following on from the elf workshops this week, next Saturday, 8th December, sees Father Christmas strolling around the Precinct between noon and 4pm handing out treats and meeting children. Also wandering around will be a giant Snow Queen.
On Saturday 15th December, between noon and 4pm, Postman Pat and his black and white cat Jess will arrive to pick up letters to Santa that children have posted in Salford's Christmas Post Box, which is there from now until Pat arrives.
On Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd a giant snow globe will be at the centre, and families are invited to step inside the snowy winter wonderland and take home a Christmas picture. Father Christmas will also be making a final appearance before his big day.
Can Tesco compete with such fantasy? And the cheap printer ink stall too?
