Lobby The Labour Group
Monday 15th October, 5pm-6:30pm
 Salford Civic Centre

With the Salford Labour Council intending to impose pay cuts on its own staff and to further slash public services, public sector trade unions UNISON, GMB and UNITE, have called a Lobby of the Labour Group of councillors and Mayor's Assistants this Monday, 15th October at 5pm.

Opposing the shocking cuts programme, the unions state that the Lobby will try to make "the Council see sense".

Lobby the Labour Group Against Attacks on Pay and Services

The public sector trade unions – Salford City UNISON, GMB and UNITE the union – have called a Lobby of Salford Council's Labour Group this Monday at 5pm.

Council staff - facing `accept or you're sacked' pay cuts of £15million over the next five years - have asked all their members to attend, plus people from the community facing cuts to public services, to show Labour Councillors, meeting inside the Civic Centre, the unpopularity of their decisions which will cause hardship to many people in the city.

"Union members have shown that – if necessary – they would be willing to take industrial action over to prevent their wages being cut, but we want to avoid that if at all possible and that is why we are looking at other methods of making the Council see sense" state the unions

"Please join us on Monday from 5pm outside the Civic where we will put our case to Labour Councillors meeting inside" they add "They have the authority to over-turn this decision and to get these proposals taken off the table. The more people we have there, the stronger the message will be!"
