MERRY MEN AND WOMEN UNITE!
Take one look at the three minute Robin Hood Tax video which is on http://robinhoodtax.org.uk/ (watch now!!!), and it's obvious to anyone with a brain that a 0.05% tax on all the financial sector's transactions would very easily solve a lot of the world's problems – no Council cuts in Salford, for example.
The UK already taxes some bank transaction but if the Government takes it a bit further it could raise £20billion in this country alone….
"One of the reasons the government has not done more is the immense power of the City of London in lobbying and influencing politicians" states the Robin Hood Tax campaign "That is why huge public pressure is needed to convince the government it is more costly to ignore the people than to ignore the banks."
Everyone knows the banks and big business got us into this mess. Everyone knows that we're expected to pay for their greed. The Robin Hood Tax campaign allows everyone to say `No more robbin' bastards…We're all Robin Hood now…'
…And you get to dress up in a mask and a cool hat too!
Calls for a Robin Hood Tax are growing every day and celebs, religious groups, charities, trade unions and millions of people have signed up to support the campaign.
This Saturday the Robin Hood Tax campaign arrives in Manchester for a training event to give more details of the Tax and how people can make the idea a reality.
"With action going full steam ahead in Europe it's more important than ever to be pushing for the Robin Hood Tax - a simple idea whose time has come" Robin Hood's Danielle Paffard told the Salford Star "Join us at the training session this weekend to learn more about the campaign, where we're at now, and what we need to be doing next…"
Rachel Saunders, who went to the training event in London last week, says "I found it very informative and helpful in gaining a better understanding of what the campaign is all about, and what I can do to get involved."
The banks have made millions out of Salford, now it's payback time…
"The Robin Hood Tax campaign started as an idea. People loved it. We became a movement. And we're still growing. We are charities, green groups, trade unions, celebrities, religious leaders and politicians. We are part of a movement of campaigns in more than 25 countries around the world with millions of supporters. We believe it's time to rewrite the contract between banks and society…"
