RIP UP MURDOCH'S SUN FOR HILLSBOROUGH JUSTICE

Salford crew, Class Actions, have produced a top diatribe against Rupert Murdoch's The Sun, for the anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster. The accompanying video shows Liverpool FC fans tearing up the paper outside Anfield...

Full story here…

"As a football fan...I've always believed that regardless of what team you support we have an obligation to support Liverpool's fight for the truth." Aslan AK

As the 23rd anniversary of Hillsborough looms for the 15th April, Salford rap collective, Class Actions, have produced another top topical track, this time ripping the metaphorical head off News International villain, Rupert Murdoch.

Murdoch's paper The Sun, notoriously blamed Liverpool FC supporters for tragedy, and while the Government ties itself in knots with its truth inquiry, Class Actions have come up with their own reprise, helped along the way with spoken words by lifelong Liverpool fan, Derek Coleman, video editors Global Faction and filmed by Class Actions themselves with Keith Dewsnup.

While the lyrics call for the `Godfather' Murdoch to be chucked in prison, the video, shot around Anfield and Hillsborough, shows fans ripping up The Sun…

`Gotta do your Duty just Rip up the Sun
Rip up the Sun Rip up the Sun
Just rip it right up!'…

"Around the time when News of The World shut down last year, my girlfriend who is a native Liverpudlian, suggested that I wrote a song about the Sun newspaper's attitude towards Liverpool" recalls Class Actions' Aslan AK "I thought that the song would be much more powerful if it included a video of people literally ripping up the Sun. The stage was therefore set for what was to become Class Action's first ever music video.

"As a football fan, I've always believed that regardless of what team you support, we have an obligation to support Liverpool's fight for the truth" he adds "When we visited Hillsborough to do some of the filming, I thought it very fitting that the memorial contained many scarves of other teams showing respect to those that tragically died. The video itself was a great deal of fun to make, let's face it asking someone to rip up a copy of the Sun in front of the Kop at Anfield was going to be interesting!"

Class Actions' music guru and producer, Mike F, explains that getting one over on Murdoch musically was a pleasure…

"The Sun newspaper is a disgrace to tabloid journalism" he says "The lies that it has spread and the arrogance of its owners can only be described as disgusting. It is a great feeling therefore to be involved with this project."

To raise awareness for justice for the Hillsborough families, the track is available as a free download from the band's website www.classactionsuk.com , while the video for Rip Up The Sun is on YouTube. Check it out!

RIP UP THE SUN

I gun for the sun with my bullets flyin' wild
We wanna winna war inna war on want
Winna war on the want of - Murdoch
See many many men live in fear
Murdoch dominates the mass media

He's slier and sharper and stronger and harder
In other words bastard is like a god father
Godfather of distorted facts
You challenged him? Yeah I got my phone tapped

Hear me - R.I.P - the nine six
The victims of Murdoch's tricks
Mister Murdoch (Sir) have you no shame
Better Boycott your toys play you at your game

I'm after Murdoch he's got a felony
Against people who take on his tendency
I'm after Murdoch he is the enemy
For him prison is the only real remedy

Just wanted to say that it was a pleasure to be involved in the production of this video. Spending the day with Class Actions is always a pleasure and filming at Hillsborough and Anfield and in Liverpool in general was great. The people were amazing and we got some great rip-ups done by all sorts of people. The song is a breath of fresh air from all the commercial crap in the charts these days by that other anti Christ Simon Cowell and his cronies. Great track with awesome lyrics over it and a pretty good video to boot. Great to see and hear someone attacking the establishment via music and we need more of it! Anarchy in the UK 2012 STYLE! The Sun newspaper is scum and it's readers are this countrys biggest problem! Brain dead morons the lot of em! RIP UP THE SUN.
