MOSSLEY V SALFORD CITY

Star date: 17th September 2011

Mossley 2 Salford City 1

UNLUCKY SALFORD'S UNBEATEN RUN AT AN END

Salford City gave Mossley a two goal start in the first 12 minutes and spent the rest of the match hammering back but just failed, having pulled one goal back and hit the post twice. This unluckily ended the six match unbeaten league run.

"We were mugged" moaned one Salford City at the final whistle

"You're not mugged when you give them your wallet…" replied the other, to nods all round.

Two defensive errors in the first 12 minutes that gave Mossley a two goal start cost Salford City this match. Two goals down and the nerves started spreading throughout the team but then the fightback began…

…The rest of the game was virtually one way traffic, with the Mossley goalkeeper making three fine saves, Matty Burke hitting the post and Adam Morning pulling a goal back from a quickly taken free kick all before half time.

The second half it was more of the same, Danny Heffernan hitting the post with a deflected shot, Jack Redshaw hitting a powerful shot inches over the bar, and the Mossley keeper saving a last gasp Rhodri Giggs effort on full time.

So, Salford City beaten in the league for only the third time this season, and against the run of play… "You know you don't deserve it" Salford fans sung as the Mossley players trooped of the pitch at the end.

Three points stolen? What do you expect if you leave the back door open?

Next home game at Moor Lane: Saturday 24th September v Ossett Town ko 3pm
