SECRET SALFORD COUNCIL SUMMER OF CUTS

Star date: 4th August 2011

WHAT GOES ON BEHIND SALFORD COUNCIL'S CLOSED DOORS IN THE SUMMER? COULD IT BE THE DREADED FACS OPTION 3?

Is it just co-incidence that Salford Council is pushing through its nastiest cuts during the peak of the summer holidays in the city?

Last Monday, £272,000 was cut for single homeless people, including funding for Lancaster House. Next Monday, at the Council's Adult Social Care Lead Member meeting, 17 items on the agenda are being discussed and decided behind closed doors.

We believe that this is the start of almost £4million in cuts for services for the most vulnerable adults in Salford. And it's all being done in secret. At the height of the summer holidays.

FACS OPTION 3 isn't a new club being opened by Peter Hook. It's a secretive strategy being developed by Salford Council to absolutely hammer some of the most vulnerable adults in the city.

Next Monday, at the Adult Social Care Lead Member meeting, 17 items on the agenda will be discussed and decided in secret. One item is titled `Adult Social Care Future Operating Model', and we believe that this will be the start of FACS OPTION 3, that will see the Adult Social Care budget slashed by £3.507million over the next three years, including a £707,000 cut this year.

Also on the secret chopping board agenda is `Adult Social Care Voluntary Commissioning' which is in for a £267,000 cut over the next three years, and a `Review and Reconfiguration of Supported Accommodation (Mental Health) Services in Salford' which will lead to a £140,000 cut over the next three years.

The agenda on the Council's website (see here) has absolutely no reports or information attached to it and all 17 items are being discussed behind closed doors, including the Adult Social Care Complaints Annual Review.

Perhaps they would like to add a Salford Star complaint that these shocking cuts, affecting some of the most vulnerable people in Salford, are being decided in secret while everyone's away on holiday…

…Oh, and there's another item titled Behaviour Change Strategy. What? In Salford Council? Never!

Pickles is telling local clouncils to sell off their assets before imposing cuts .Not much left to sell off in this dead city Salford , but Swinetown Clown Hall would make a very good Tesco Express . They could even build a petrol station there , and the inept clouncil wasters could be trained up to operate a car wash . Assuming some 'executive' tells them how to wash cars .

Well said Dave, people need to realise that its democracy that is at the heart of the problem and not the solution. Make no mistake , if it wasnt this discredted character Merry and his cronies it would be someone else, that is the cleverness of how this system is set up to protect these charlatans. Its blackhat neocheaters at their very worst and churns out corrupt authorities after corrupt authorities. Quite rightly there was a public outcry about the lunatic who through political motivation slaughtered innocent children in Norway yet David Cameron has slaughtered more innocent children in Libya than yer man could dream of. Cameron should be in jail along with Blair and everybody else who voted for their illegal wars and the fact that he is not is down to this dream system 'democracry'. No doubt the war mongers will excuse it by using Gadaffi as an excuse......Well why arent yous bombing Syria then?

As I predicted , this vicious ' labour' clouncil overzealously implementing the dirty deeds of their tory masters . These arrogant bastards are shameless . All councils should be ordered to get rid of the non-job wasters and executive bullshitters that all councils are stuffed with . It is obscene to target the dis- advantaged , but so typical of these clouncil goons . Labour , my arse .

SALFORD STAR – 15 YEARS OF ATTITUDE AND LOVE XXX

The Salford Star closes tonight after 15 years of giving the community a voice, holding power to account and bigging up all the great things that have happened in the city.

Thousands of people in Salford have been involved in one way or another with the Star and we'd like to thank them all. Salford is a very special city and, hopefully, we've given it a very special community publication.

THREATS, LIES, FEAR AND LOATHING IN SALFORD...

Today, the Salford Star shuts down but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. Here the Salford Star editor, Stephen Kingston, looks at how democracy perished badly under the Salford mayoral system.

A WHIFF OF FREEDOM AS RESTRICTIONS ARE EASED

Salford has 7 new coronavirus cases, down from the previous day's 14, while the seven day rate per 100,000 population now stands at 30.1, down from 30.9. There have been no new virus-related deaths announced by Salford Royal Hospital.

Today sees restrictions eased and the first whiff of freedom in over a year. It's also the final coronavirus bulletin from the Salford Star which is closing. Here we look back over 14 months of the pandemic and the absolute communication failings of Salford City Council and its City Mayor.

THEY WILL TRY TO DISCREDIT YOU...TO BLOCK YOU, TO SHUT YOU DOWN

We are almost at the final closure of the Salford Star but we write this article as a warning to others who may follow on the pitfalls of founding a genuine publication that aims to give the community a voice and hold public bodies up to account.

They will try to discredit you, block information and shut you down. In South America they just blow up the offices of journalists that don't play the game. Here they just financially assassinate you...

SALFORD STAR CLOSURE – GUY GRIFFITHS ON THE HUMAN COST OF PATHFINDER DEMOLITIONS

Star date: 16th May 2021

THE HUMAN COST OF REGENERATION

The Griffiths brothers of Higher Broughton are kind of infamous as the only people to be forcefully evicted from their house as part of the Pathfinder 'housing market renewal' project during the first decade of the 21st Century.

Here, Guy Griffiths, now living in 'sunny' north Wales and one of the main inspirations for the Salford Star's creation, writes the second part his own personal view of the Government project that devastated communities throughout Central Salford.
