Insurance company, Atlanta, has launched a Lockdown Literacy Competition for school pupils age 5 to 16 within its office areas which include Greater Manchester and Salford.
"We're asking children to write a poem or short story, of no more than 500 words, to tell us all about their lockdown experiences and all of the things that stood out for them about 2020" states the company "Maybe Captain Sir Tom Moore made a big impression, or they remember their parents struggling to buy toilet roll, baking banana bread, going for walks, became a TikTok sensation or they may have found a new skill or appreciation for family board games."
The competition is open until Friday 26th March and there are two categories for children aged 5-10, and 11 to 16, with a first, second and third prize for each category.
The first prize is a new laptop, home learning essentials plus £1,000 for the winner's school to spend on literacy resources. Second prize is an Amazon tablet and home learning essentials, and third prize is an array of home learning essentials.
All children have to do is email their entries to AtlantaCommunications@AtlantaGroup.co.uk with their name, age and the school they attend.
