SALFORD HAS 49 NEW CORONAVIRUS CASES AS RESIDENTS AGE 60 AND OVER CALLED FOR A JAB

Salford has 49 new coronavirus cases, down from the previous day's 60, bringing the cumulative total to 21,625. The seven day average of cases in Salford has decreased to 465, down from 476, while the seven day rate per 100,000 population now stands at 179.7, down from 183.9.
Elsewhere in Greater Manchester, the seven day average of cases in Bury is 448 (up from 444), with a seven day rate per 100,000 population of 234.6 (up from 232.5); Bolton 682 (up from 645), with a rate of 237.2 (up from 224.3); Manchester 960 (up from 942), with a rate of 173.6 (up from 170.4); and Oldham 347 (down from 365), with a rate of 146.3 (down from 153.9).
Rochdale has a seven day average of cases of 385 (up from 381), with a seven day rate of 173.1 (up from 171.3); Stockport 540 (up from 514), with a rate of 184 (up from 175.2); Tameside 442 (up from 435), with a rate of 195.1 (up from 192.1); Trafford 313 (up from 293), with a rate of 131.9 (up from 123.4); and Wigan 558 (down from 574), with a rate of 169.8 (down from 174.6).

There has been one new virus-related death at Salford Royal Hospital. Latest data shows that the Salford Royal hospital hub has administered 21,487 doses of vaccines (10,422 NHS staff, 1275 patients and 9790 other staff), on top of 45,020 doses given across the three community hubs and outreach sites announced yesterday. Meanwhile, the Salford vaccination programme has now progressed to 'Cohort 7' which includes all residents of 60 and over, plus those from Cohort 6 who were invited for a jab last week - carers (age 18+), those on the shielding list, those invited to an annual review with a GP about a long term condition, and those invited by the NHS for an annual flue jab (excluding asthmatics). Second doses of vaccine will be offered from the end of March/early April, while those who are housebound, unable to attend a vaccination site and who have not yet had a home visit should phone 0800 953 0116 to see if it is possible to have the jab. Following the news that schools rather than algorithms will decide students' grades this year in GCSEs and A Levels using a combination of mock exams, coursework and essays, teachers' union, the NEU, has given it withering supporting, calling it the "least worst option"... "It is wrong that education professionals, parents and students alike have had to wait until now to know how grades will be determined this summer" says Dr Mary Bousted, Joint General Secretary of the National Education Union "They have rightly been demanding clarity, some certainty and robust contingency planning since the start of the academic year and options to facilitate these things were highlighted to Government by the NEU.
"This wait, and therefore the anxiety stemming from it, has been exacerbated by two things" she adds "Firstly, for GCSEs and A-Levels, if Government didn't rely solely on end-of-course exams in order to give the grade, there would already be some evidence of student performance 'in the bank', as there is for many other qualifications such as BTECs and Cambridge Nationals. Secondly, Government acted too late. Had there been steps taken at the start of the academic year to prepare for the eventuality that exams may not be able to happen, in the way the sector including the NEU had been calling for, this could have been more easily resolved.
"Given this late action, in the situation we now find ourselves, the process laid out by Government is better than the original consultation proposals and is likely the least worst option available" she explains "It is helpful that Government has listened to the consensus amongst the profession and this process gives students the best chance at grades which are as fair and consistent as possible in the circumstances: the NEU and its members will undoubtedly do everything they can now to make it work.
"However, there are still question marks over how it is expected that the extra work necessary to facilitate grading will be dealt with" she says "Substantial time will need to be set aside for the initial assessments and gradings and then the internal school moderation processes; it may well be that extra staff need to be employed to release teachers for this important work. "The steps laid out by Government rightly require the professional expertise of school and college staff – they are highly trained professionals who know their students well and are best placed to make decisions about their performance" she explains "However, they cannot be expected to simply absorb additional workload. This is another aspect of the plans which would have worked more easily had Government listened earlier in the academic year and put in place consistent, robust contingency arrangements for evidencing student performance.
"In order to make this grading process as successful as possible Government must outline how schools and colleges will be supported to ensure staff have the necessary time to engage with it properly, in a way which does not increase workload" Dr Bousted concludes.

| At the end of summer 2021 when this so called national lockdown is supposed to be over, the government will say cases and deaths are sadly rising again really serious of this deadly killer virus allegedly from Wuhan because everyone is out now enjoying freedom and mixing with everyone.. This is when the government will tell all UK citizens (at end of summer) that the "jib jab" is now required by law to be put into your body. no examptions. All workplaces will need to see proof of the "jib jab" and anyone on benefits will need to show "jib jab" documents, no documents no money. Then the shit will hit the fan. |

Why all the fuss about those that don't want it.Just think about it. the types of people who are most reluctant to take the jab are in fact the sort of people who are least likely to vote Tory. As our anti jabbers get older ,they are more likely to get covid when they are more vulnerable and more likely to kick the bucket before they should.These anti jabbers cannot give this covid to people who have been done so why bother about them.? Our queen the other day came out and said "we should all take the jib jab for the good of everyone".. The Nuremberg code said nothing experimental should be forced into our bodies and I've looked it up and anything experimental lasts for 3years. | Before you know it the jib-jab will be mandatory via the back door. The Guv will encourage employers to insist that workers get the jib-jab with a No jab No job rule. Also people won't be allowed in Government buildings, ie Hospitals, Gateways, the dole etc without the jib-jab passport. Nor will non jib-jabbers be allowed in supermarkets, on planes, trains, buses or trains ... Most crucially, at least according to a jizz stain like David Cameron, non jib-jabbers won't be allowed in pubs .... I'm getting echoes of the 1940s here Dazza. |

| What a load of tosh does Dr Mary Bousted of the NEU speak. She talks of schools needing extra teachers to allow staff time to absorb additional workload for the assessment of students for GCSE’s. Every school I have been in over the past 30 years already have assessment processes in place. They continually consider and reassess what grades pupils are likely to obtain so that they can offer differing support to improve grades and to increase the number of pupils meeting the baseline. Does she not think that schools already have “consistent, robust arrangements for evidencing student performance”?
She needs to stop being political about the situation and start being practical. She continually says what Government has not done but continually fails to suggest any alternatives. Get off your soapbox Mary and get in front of a class and show what you can do. No, on second thought’s don’t go in front of a class as I do not want to disadvantage pupils any more than has been due to the pandemic.
