Representatives from the Jewish, Christian and Muslim traditions will be speaking at a special online public meeting tomorrow, Monday 14th December from 6pm, on the theme of Light and Hope in a Time of Darkness.
Following the speakers, attendees will be split into groups to discuss questions, including What is the place of Faith Communities in Salford?, How are our faith communities bringing light and hope at this time? and What practical actions can we take together locally?
"Often behind the scenes in this difficult year, the faith communities of Salford have continued their efforts to unite communities and encourage individuals facing crisis" says Daniel Burton from Salford Interfaith Forum "This online forum aims to celebrate the positive contribution made in 2020 and to strengthen and coordinate their input in 2021."
Jonny Wineberg, Director of Operations of We Stand Together, which is supporting the event, adds: "Faith groups do so much for our communities and we find there is far more that unites us than divides us. This event will celebrate that but also looking for more ways we can collaborate and take practical actions to improve people's lives."
Speakers include Imam Rashid Musa of Salford University Faith Centre, The Bishop of Salford, John Arnold, and Adi Abeles, Former Salford Bnei Akiva Youth Director and currently Youth, Families and Young Adults Director at Shrubberies Synagogue. Salford City Mayor, Paul Dennett, will be joining in too.
