Salford has 43 new confirmed cases of coronaviruis bringing the cumulative total to 2,857, up from the previous day's 2,814.
Elsewhere in Greater Manchester, cases in Manchester rose to 6,725 (up from 6,548), followed by Bolton 4,502 (up from 4,409), Oldham with 4,015 (up from 3,957), Wigan 3,217 (up from 3,149), Rochdale 3,181 (up from 3,135), Tameside 2,855 (up from 2,812), Stockport 2,579 (up from 2,538), Trafford 2,194 (up from 2,157) and Bury 2,459 (up from 2,413).
There have been no new virus-related deaths announced by Salford Royal Hospital.
According to the latest COVID-19 case map of Salford for data between 16th and 22nd September, the largest number of cases were in the Middle Super Output Areas of Eccles and Salford Central and University, with 32 cases each.* Reports of twenty positive virus cases at Salford University are conservative to say the least, the Salford Star understands.
Meanwhile, the rise in cases in Greater Manchester is also reflected in the rise in COVID-19 hospital patients in the North West – with eighty patients admitted on 24th September (the latest data), compared to nine on 24th August.
North West hospitals also currently have 542 COVID-19 patients, as of 26th September, compared to 77 on 26th August. As of 26th September there were also 77 patients on ventilation compared to 12 on 26th August.
